Chapter 28
The surrounding noise–the chatter and honking cars–felt especially jarring
On the other end of the line, Virgil clearly heard the commotion. His voice, cold and sharp, asked, “You’re not home yet”
Moira let out a soft hum, explaining. “I just finished the banquet with my boss. It’s raining outside, so I might be a little late. You don’t need to wall up for me–go ahead and get some rest”
Baldwin, standing nearby with the umbrella, overheard this and his expression immedurely soured
“Where are you now!” Virgil asked.
Moira gave him the hotel’s address:
“Tim actually passing by that hotel right now Wan for me, and I come pick you up “Virgil uirt

“No need. Team just get an umbrella from the hotel
“There are too many people today. The hotel only has a limited number of umbrellas. You can only get one with an invitation”
Oh, I see” Moira glanced outside, noting that the rain was getting heavier, and the stairy were already beginning to pool with water. If she stepped quiside now, she’d be soaked in seconds.
Looking at her delicate, light dress, she suppressed the urge to avoid the umbrella and turned to him. “Then, thank you”

Suddenly, Moira stopped, her eyes lighting up. “Virgil”
Before Baldwin could react, she dashed off. He watched helplessly as she ran into the rain, heading straight toward Virgil. Through the haze of rain, Baldwin could make out the tall figure, the familiar face of Virgil
But just as he was getting a clearer look, Virgil turned away, leading Moira off. They got into a Maybach
As Moira sented into the car, she finally noticed it was a luxury vehicle. She turned her head, studying the sharp, handsome profile of Virgil beside
her:
Just as she was about to speak, he spoke first. “This is my hou’s car.””

She said with a relaxed smile, “We’re probably going to mess up the car. Your boss is going to dock your pay
Virgil had expected her to say this, but hearing it from her still made him smile. He started the car, reversed, and pressed the gas pedal
As the car’s heater kicked in, Moira warmed up quickly. The heavy rain and traffic delays made the ride slow, and after a few stops, she started to feel drowsy.
Her eyelids grew heavy, and in the haze of sleep, she heard Virgil’s voice. “Our boss is pretty understanding. He often lets us borrow the car, so hr won’t care about something like this”
Hearing this, Moira relaxed and finally allowed her eyes to close, drifting off to sleep.

“Awake!” Virgil looked down at her with a hint of amusement,
Moira glanced around, realizing their position, and felt a flush of embarrassment. She thought. How did I end up dreaming something like this?
Virgil gently placed her on the floor. “Go take a hot shower. You don’t want to get sick.” With that, he timed and headed straight for his room. closing the door behind him.
