Chapter 50
‘Didn’t you just say you missed me?” Norman said, looking at Kayla with a loving smile.
“Well, I did say I missed you, but I didn’t mean I wanted you to come over right now! If Mom finds out, she’s going to lecture me again!” Kayla puffed out her cheeks in mock frustration, clearly feeling both annoyed and guilty.
Norman gently patted her hand, smiling reassuringly. “It’s okay, I’ve got your back. Don’t worry about her
Kayla’s face lit up with happiness. “I knew you’d always be on my side, Dad!”
“You spoiled little thing!” Norman’s gaze softened with affection as he spoke to Kayla. After that, he turned to greet the director and producer.
“My daughter’s been a bit spoiled since she was little. If she’s done anything wrong. I hope you two will go easy on her, he said with a warm smile, looking at the director and producer.
Paul quickly nodded, grinning. “Oh, Mr. Mitchell, please don’t worry, Kayla’s been working really hard. She doesn’t have a single ounce of diva attitude. Everyone gets along with her just fine.”
Preston also chimed in, “That’s right. Everyone likes her. Mr. Mitchell, you’re really lucky, I can’t even compare. My own daughter still relies on me. while Kayla’s already independent and doesn’t need her parents worrying about her anymore.”
Norman sighed helplessly but smiled. “I wish I didn’t have to worry. Since she entered the entertainment industry, she’s been so busy I can hardly see her. It’s been half a month since she’s been home.”
When Paul heard this, he immediately responded, “Kayla, that’s not right! After work today, you should go home and visit your parents. Got it?”
“No way, everyone else is going home only after filming’s done in two months. I can’t be the exception. I’ll go back once the show’s finished, Kayla said.
Paul shook his head, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “We’re not doing anything major today. Why be so stubborn about it?”
Though he was “scolding” her, there was clear affection in his tone. His words were meant to give face to Norman, but for the sake of the show’s confidentiality, he preferred Kayla stay until filming wrapped up.
Preston sighed. “Kayla’s really dedicated. Not many people in the industry work as hard as she does these days
Norman’s chest swelled with pride at hearing Kayla being praised. He changed the subject. “I’ve arranged for an ice cream truck to come by and cool everyone off. You all can relax for a bit. Later, I’ll treat everyone to dinner at the Golden Hotel!”
The Golden Hotel was the only seven–star hotel in Eldoria. It was where Lily had held her birthday party not long ago. It was a pleasant surprise for Norman to treat everyone there.
Paul’s eyes brightened. “Mr. Mitchell, you sure know how to treat your guests! Yot even thought of an ice cream truck. On behalf of the whole crew; thank you for your hospitality!”
When the ice cream truck arrived, everyone gathered around, eagerly grabbing a treat to cool off.
Only Moira stood alone in the shade of a tree, still holding her pen, deep in thought. She had just received another call from the young couple, requesting a change in the renovation style.
They didn’t want the wood–inspired design anymore; they wanted something unique, something that would really stand out.
Linda Carter, Moira’s assistant, handed her an ice cream
“I can’t eat anything cold. You go ahead,” Moira said softly.
Linda, thinking she had her period, quickly replied, “I saw some regular bottled water over there. Should I grab you a bottle?
No need, I’m not thirsty.”
Linda glanced at Moira’s sunburned face, beads of sweat dotting her forehead and cheeks. She thought, ‘How can she not be thirsty on such a hot day
But since Moira wasn’t interested, Linda didn’t press her and went off to enjoy her ice cream on her own.
Most of the crew had gathered around Norman, while Wendy and Benton, with Kayla’s introduction, were charting with him
Just then, Wendy suddenly turned toward Moira, raised her voice, and asked, “Moira, Mr. Mitchell said he’s treating us all to a big dinner at the
