Chapter 116 Guilty for Wearing a Short Skirt
The two raised their voices, and the courtroom was instantly filled with noise and chaos.
The judge knocked on the table.
“Please remain calm and maintain order in the courtroom.”

Xander stood up and intervened, pulling the two apart. The boy’s parents finally calmed down and sat back in their seats.
After both sides finished their statements, the defense phase began.
Sophia was the first to speak.
“The plaintiff just claimed that my client seduced your son. I’d like to ask, what specific actions did my client take that gave you such an impression?”
The boy’s mother immediately responded.
“Do I even need to say it? Anyone with eyes can see her skirt barely covers her thighs. Those pale legs of hers are always on display! My son is a young man, full of hormones. How could he resist such temptation?”
Sophia pressed further.
“So

The boy’s mother was instantly at a loss for words. “I–I didn’t mean that! Don’t twist my words!”
Sophia sneered. “I’m not twisting anything. What I’m saying is based on logic. You’re suggesting that just because my client wore a short skirt, she’s guilty of seducing your son and he’s absolved of all responsibility. So, tell me, who should take the blame? The person who invented and designed short skirts? Or every woman who wears one? Do girls not have the freedom to choose their own clothing? Are all girls in short skirts supposed to be ogled or even harassed by men?”
The boy’s parents exchanged glances and immediately fell silent.
They looked to Xander for help.
The courtroom began to buzz with murmurs.
Abigail listened intently.
“Honestly, it’s true–women’s clothing these days is getting more and more revealing. Either it’s backless or so short you can’t even bend over.”
“Oh, come on. Clothes are designed to be worn. Besides, what someone wears are their choice. That’s no excuse for someone
else’s behavior.”
“Exactly! What century are we in? It’s the 21st century, and women still can’t wear short skirts in summer?”
“The way to protect a flower isn’t to stop it from blooming. When will people finally understand this?”

Chapter 116 Guilty for Wearing a Short Skirt Hearing that the discussions were relatively reasonable, Abigail let out a small sigh of relief.
At that moment, Xander spoke, “I’d like to ask the defendant. You insist that my client forced this interaction. Do you have any evidence to prove it wasn’t consensual?”
The girl on the defendant’s side lowered her head, thought for a moment, then shook it slightly.
Her shoulders trembled even more, and her shaky, hoarse voice finally broke the silence.
“I don’t even know him. That night, I was out late with friends. On my way back to the dorm, I passed by a small wooded area. He dragged me in and forced me. I wasn’t willing. I was forced. I kept calling for help, but it was so late that no one heard me.”
Xander asked again, “Are there any surveillance recordings or audio that can prove you were calling for help and struggling, but ultimately couldn’t escape?”
The girl’s voice quivered.
“No. The police investigated my school afterward, but the surveillance cameras in that area were old, and the footage was unclear. There was no audio, and that wooded area is a blind spot for cameras.”
Xander sneered. “So, in other words, apart from insisting it wasn’t consensual, you have no concrete evidence?”
Hearing this, the girl’s emotions flared up as well.

“It’s true I have no evidence, but I really wasn’t willing! Why would I voluntarily have any relationship with a guy I’ve never even met? What could I possibly gain from this? If I was willing, why would I have fought back? Why would I be injured?”
Xander’s sharp gaze pierced through her. “Without direct evidence, how can we be sure you didn’t inflict those injuries on yourself to frame someone? Or that you’re not the type of girl. who willingly engages with strangers?”
This statement made the girl feel even more wronged.
“I didn’t! I swear I didn’t! I’m not that kind of girl! I was with my boyfriend for two years, and we never even did anything! He broke up with me because of this. I’ve never done anything like that!”
At this moment, the girl looked so fragile, like she might shatter at the slightest touch.
Despite her desperate cries and tearful statements, it all seemed weak and unconvincing.
The audience in the courtroom began whispering amongst themselves.
Abigail clenched her fists nervously as she watched.
Sophia quickly patted the girl on the shoulder and handed her a tissue.
She tried to comfort her. “It’s okay. Be strong. This isn’t your

“I swear I didn’t…” the girl said, her voice trembling.
Sophia nodded firmly at her. “I believe you.”
Seeing that the girl was too emotional, the judge, with some sympathy, announced a ten–minute recess to allow the girl to calm down.
Sophia immediately helped the girl to the break room.
Noticing that the girl still had injuries on her legs, causing her to stumble as she walked, the boy’s parents, on the other hand, looked smug and filled with resentment.
It was as if they wanted to rush up and tear the girl apart.
Abigail got up, deciding to check on the girl and Sophia in the
back.
As she reached the side aisle, she looked up and found herself locking eyes with Xander.
Their gazes met briefly.
Xander quickly turned his face away, pretending not to recognize her.
Abigail thought to herself, “It has been so many years.
It’s normal if he doesn’t recognize me. Besides, now isn’t the time to reminisce.”

As soon as she entered, she saw the girl curled up at the table, sobbing uncontrollably.
Sophia stood by, trying to console her, but the girl was so
overwhelmed with emotion that she couldn’t listen.
When Sophia saw Abigail approach, she stood up.
“You’re here,” Sophia said.
Abigail nodded and took a seat across from the girl.
“Don’t cry, Skyla. Let’s work together to solve this. Be brave, okay? What’s done is done–tears and emotions won’t fix anything.”
Sophia’s words didn’t ease Skyla’s pain in the slightest.
Instead, she cried even harder.
“How can I face this bravely? Didn’t you just see? I have no way to defend myself!” Skyla wailed.
