After rebirth, he tore apart his childhood sweetheart and the green
arrow man who was held in his
sister’s hand
Chapter 1
Getting accepted to Stanford early meant I
could ditch the AP exams.
But when golden boy Chad Bradley heard, he
stormed over and actually slapped me.
“These tests are supposed to be a fair playing
field for everyone, what makes you so special?”
“Unless, you’re worried you wouldn’t do as well
as you think?”
Last time around, Chad’s essay was a carbon
copy of mine.
I asked Ms. Johnson, the proctor, and my
childhood bestie, Brianna, to back me up.
Instead, they both begged the school to cut me some slack, saying it was a first offense.
The internet exploded. I became Public Enemy
Number One: a cheater.
I was railroaded, expelled, and banned from
retaking the SAT’s.
My parents were doxed and lost their jobs, they
looked like they’d aged ten years overnight.
I spiraled and then one snowy night, I ended it
all.
Except, the next thing I know, I’m back, a week
before testing day.
“Honey, I made you scrambled eggs with bacon,
eat up before you study,”

“You’ve been looking pale lately.”
My older sister, Sarah, put the plate on my desk
and even cut up some fruit.
The whole scene almost knocked me off my
chair.
Then, Brittany waltzed in, putting a Tupperware
on the desk.
“I heard you’re not eating well, so I brought you
my mom’s chicken noodle soup, it’ll cure what
ails you!”
I’d lived this exact scene twice before.
The first time, I thought I was the luckiest kid
on Earth.
Sarah, seven years older, always looked out for
- me.

And Brittany, we were practically family.

Now? It just made me sick to my stomach.
Last time, my essay looked exactly like Chad’s.
The graders flagged it immediately and
reported it.
I was a shoo–in for valedictorian and headed to
an Ivy league.
Instead I was caught in a public execution.
I begged Sarah, who proctored my test, and
Brittany, who took it, to testify.
They both said no.
Sarah even apologized to the school, asking
them to let me retake it next year.
The internet lost their collective minds.

“So, he’s been cheating all along, and his sister
is the proctor? That’s blatant cheating!”
“Yeah, someone like that should be banned, not
given another chance!”
“Exactly, he should consider himself lucky to
even be able to walk around school after pulling
that stunt!”
The school sided with public opinion, not with
Sarah’s plea.
When the scores came out, I got a 1050.
Meanwhile Chad, who usually bombed
everything, aced it and won a scholarship.
His essay was held up as a shining example.
He became a campus celebrity.

I became the cheating dirtbag.
They wouldn’t give me my diploma, and I was
banned.
Without a degree, I bussed tables and then
delivered pizza.

People would dump the food on my head and
then leave nasty reviews.
My parents were fired and got sick because of
- me.
To pay their bills, I ended up sorting packages
at a Fedex warehouse.
A couple days later, the manager recognized
- me.
He kicked me out and kept my paycheck.
Penniless, I gave up.
