Chapter 12
A week later, someone knocked on my door.
I calmly walked over and opened it. It was
Mark.
Looks like my phone call worked.
<
Mark was livid. “Are you crazy? Why did you
call the hospital and stop my treatment? You know I need dialysis to stay alive! You’re
trying to kill me!”
“I know my mom and Jessica were wrong to hide the fact that they could donate, but I’m innocent! How could you blame me?”
Seeing him so angry made me happy. “Mark, you know I’m rich, but I have a bad memory. I’d almost forgotten that I was paying for your hospital bills.”
“But you guys showed up and made a scene. It reminded me that your mom has some
money in her account. I figured she could pay.
Was I wrong?”
Mark was furious. “That’s my mom’s
retirement money! How could you do this? My
treatment is nothing to you! Why won’t you
pay?”
“Have you forgotten our love? I was always so
youu to you. LVOI
enough for me, but I stood up for you! You’re
disgusting!”
If I didn’t know the truth, I would have thought
I was the bad guy.
I laughed. “It’s my money. I’ll spend it how I
want. Stop trying to guilt me into paying. It’s
not going to work.”
I told him to leave.
Seeing I was serious, Mark realized I wasn’t kidding. He didn’t say anything, but he
wouldn’t leave. After a few seconds, he got
down on his knees.
