I acted upset and went inside. “Don’t kneel there. Come see this. You’ll understand.”
I turned on the TV and played the security footage from Jessica’s visit.
It went back to five PM yesterday. Jessica knocked on the door. As soon as I opened it, she demanded, “Ashley, you promised to give me money to open a store! Why did you take
it back?”
I looked troubled. “I don’t have much cash. I’m going to pay the hospital and donate to Mark. I have nothing. The money I saved for years
and had for myself are all gone.”
“So, I’m not giving you the money. I need money after the surgery. You’ll understand,
right?”
Jessica was furious. “Are you stupid? You’re
giving him your money and your kidney? Here,
give me $5 million, and I’ll tell you the truth.”
After I begged her Jessica said “Fine I’m

done pretending. Mark doesn’t love you! You
can hear it with this recording.”
Jessica played the recording from the
hospital, revealing the entire plan.
I staggered and sat on the couch. “No, it can’t
- be. It’s fake, right?”
Jessica pulled out her phone and handed it to me. “Look at mine and Mark’s messages and
photos.”
After the video ended, I said, “So, I can’t give you my kidney. Don’t blame me. Blame
Jessica. He wanted money. He chose money
over me.”
Mark knew there was no point in talking to
- me. He stumbled out of my house.
