I was stunned.
A faint metallic taste filled my mouth.
My ears rang.
Rhonda let out a soft shriek, grabbing Zach’s
hand.
“Zach, how could you?! Even if Chloe was
faking, it’s because you haven’t been paying
enough attention to her! Didn’t we say we’d
talk to Chloe nicely…?”
Zach calmed down under her soothing words.
But his gaze towards me remained filled with
disgust.
“Chloe, why can’t you be more like Rhonda!
While you’re busy being jealous, she’s
considerate and speaks up for you! You even
faked an illness to frame her, aren’t you
ashamed?!”
I wiped the blood from my lips, meeting his
gaze calmly.
“Zach, whether I was in a real accident or not,
you only need to check my medical records,
ask the nurses, and everything will be clear!
Are you speechless or brainless, to keep
acting like this?!”

found extras for this performance. I’m
impressed by your acting skills, Chloe!”
As we stood there, the doctor opened the
door.
“Hey, Zach? What are you doing here?” he
asked, surprised.
Zach’s expression shifted.
The doctor’s eyes scanned the three of us,
then he nodded knowingly.
“You and your girlfriend are friends of Ms.
Zhou, here for a visit?”
“Ms. Zhou is really unlucky. She was run over
twice by a train before arriving at the
hospital. Internal bleeding, multiple broken
bones… If she hadn’t been brought in on
time, after we worked on her all night…”
Zach’s eyes widened in disbelief, staring at

“Chloe, you really…”
The doctor continued, smoothly taking over
the conversation.
“Yeah, Zach. Since you’re here, could you
take a look at my treatment plan? Ms. Zhou
needs proper rest and rehabilitation or it will
really affect her life…”
Zach’s fist clenched.
Rhonda, sensing the shift, quickly linked her

“Zach, let’s talk to the doctor. We should
show Chloe we care!”
But Zach remained motionless.
He stared at me, persistently asking,
“Chloe, what you said… could it all be true?”
Ignoring him, I stopped the doctor.
“My face hurts badly. Could you check it?”
The doctor’s eyes fell on my face, and he
exclaimed,
“Who hit a patient?! That’s outrageous! Ms.
Zhou, just a minute, I’ll get a nurse to brina

Ignoring Zach, I had gotten my point across.
He pulled his arm away from Rhonda, his
voice trembling.
“Chloe, were you really in a car accident?!”
“What are you doing here?!”
Kiki, who’d gone out to buy groceries,
stormed in.
She’d always had a fiery temper, and seeing
Zach and Rhonda together in my room sent
her over the edge.
“You two scum! Don’t you think you’ve hurt
Chloe enough?!”
