“Ms. Scott Sienna stood up in a hurry. “That’s not what I meant
“Stop the whining.” Brenda raised her hand, cutting her off
She added, “I understand what you’re trying to say. But if a dancer wants to prove herself, she has to do it on stage.
“If you wait until you’ve made friends with everyone and have earned your spot to perform, then what’s the point of Mr. Flynn going through all this trouble to get you here?”
Brenda looked at Sienna with a sigh. “You’re so obedient. When fold you to slim down, you did it right away.”
With just one look. Brenda could tell the weight and measurements of any dancer in the troupe.
“If you put that same determination into your dancing, wouldnt be better? Tell me. Do you want to dance? Brenda asked.

“Then dance. Dance your way to fame,” said Brenda.
“Yes. Ms. Scott.” Sienna was overwhelmed with emotion, nodding enthusiastically.
“You…The mood softened slightly. Brenda pointed at her and sighed. “Life is all about networking. Do you really think you can make everyone like you? It’s about dancing well. That’s the bottom line. Stop overthinking everything”
“I understand, Ms. Scott. Sienna nodded.
“Good.” Brenda smiled, her tone playful. “Just make sure you dance well. My Lightning Dance brand is well–known and hard to get into. If you can’t make a name for yourself, that’s one thing, but don’t ruin my reputation.”

That evening. Cedric came to pick her up. They had been seeing each other often these days.
There was no hidden reason. According to Cedric, their little play had to continue for now. No one knew if Josiah would suddenly decide to turn his attention back to her.
Cedric didn’t pressure Sienna. He typically just dropped her off at 12th Avenue. Occasionally, they’d grab a meal at a budget- friendly restaurant and split the bill
Tonight, Cedric only drove her as far as the intersection at Lyceum Street.
“I have to go to the airport in a bit,” he said.
“Is it for work?” Sienna asked.
“Yes.” Cedric nodded. “I need to go to Lockagie. I’ll probably be gone for about a week, Cedric said.
“Oh.” Sienna quickly responded. “Safe travels, and make sure to adjust to the time change. Get some rest.”
She grabbed her bag and got out of the car. “I’ll head out now. I won’t keep you.”
“Sienna, Cedric called out to her, a look on his face that said he had something to say.
Sienna couldn’t help but laugh. “What’s up? Just say it.” He had become a pretty important friend to her by now.

His birthday party? Sienna immediately thought of the one Miranda had thrown for her at the Flynn family’s place.
Could it be? Will his family be there too? That might not be appropriate for me to attend, she wondered.
“No, no,” Cedric shook his head, laughing. “It’s not like that. Mrs. Flynn probably had some ulterior motive, which is why she threw such a big party and invited so many people.
“My birthday party will just be a small gathering with a few close friends”
That sounded much better. Sienna let out a breath. She was, after all, one of his friends now.
“Sienna? Will you come?” he asked.
“Of course.” Sienna smiled and nodded. “But you should give me the exact time so I can make sure I don’t have other plans.
“Great!” Cedric grinned, his eyes practically sparkling.

Well, it was quite a sum. But, no matter how much money she had, she couldn’t afford to spend it recklessly.
For one thing, it was a habit she had developed over the years. For another, Joyce would need a lot of money in the future, and all of this had to be saved for her.
One couldn’t bite the hand that fed them. Because of the alimony, her resentment toward Josiah had faded considerably.
Now, as for Cedric’s birthday gift, she wondered what she should get him. Given Cedric’s background, he surely had everything he needed.
For a gentleman like him, the choices for a birthday gift were either extravagant presents or something heartfelt. Extravagant gifts were beyond Sienna’s budget.
So, it would have to be something from the heart.
As Sienna walked, she had already decided on what to give him. Instead of heading straight back to her rented apartment, she veered off to the nearby night market.
The 12th Avenue night market was lively at night. In addition to food, you could find all sorts of daily necessities and small goods.
At this hour, the market hadn’t officially opened yet, so there weren’t many people. Sienna was lucky and quickly found what she was looking for, and she even picked up some ingredients while she was at it.
Back at the apartment, she put the ingredients away and steamed the corn. She had to watch her figure since she was about to perform on stage.
Next, she changed into her practice clothes and, without fail, began her daily routine of basic training. After a shower, she cooked, ate, and finished up the chores.

Learning to dance was no small expense, and it showed that Fiona had truly adored her granddaughter.
Sienna had always been a dutiful child. In her spare time, she would help her grandmother with errands, and gradually, she learned a few things about sewing.
Though she couldn’t compare to her grandmother, she could certainly make simple shirts or dresses,
Now, as Sienna spread out the fabric, she recalled Cedric’s build. She had a rough idea of it and picked up a piece of chalk to sketch the outline onto the fabric.
Calculating the time, she realized she had just over a week, which was more than enough to make a shirt. She would take her time, being careful to make it just right.
After all, it was a birthday gift, and Cedric had done so much for her. She hadn’t properly thanked him yet.
As she began cutting the fabric, certain memories flashed through her mind. She had once made a shirt for Josiah.
But when he received it, he hadn’t seemed particularly happy. Later, that shirt had been shoved somewhere, perhaps buried in a drawer, or maybe it had already been thrown away.
