Satisfied with the drama, I turned to Jason’s
father.
“We settled the property issue last time. Let’s
go to the courthouse now?”
Donna caimiy interjectea,
Sister–in–law,
couples don’t discuss property without
discussing their child during a divorce.”
I raised an eyebrow, looking at Jason and his
father.
“I thought we reached a consensus on this.
What do you mean, Ms. Donna?”
Donna chuckled awkwardly, insincerely
saying, “Of course I want Jason to stay. His
father and I can’t bear to part with him.
But as a woman, I naturally want my own
child.
I didn’t expect you to be so unconcerned.”
Unconcerned?
She’s threatening me that she’ll mistreat
Jason if I don’t take him?
I nonchalantly waved my hand, “You have a
daughter; you’re not inexperienced. Leaving Jason with you, I’m completely confident.”
Donna looked at Jason’s father in surprise.
Jason’s father subtly shook his head in
resignation.
I understood.
Donna didn’t believe I truly didn’t want
custody; she came to test me.
Jason came out for water, pretending to be
casual.
But I knew he was eavesdropping.
Donna glanced at him, looking at me
meaningfully,
“Sister–in–law, we’re both divorced parents.
Frankly, children are better off with their
mothers.
I struggled with my daughter, but I
persevered. I’m not boasting, but fathers can
be careless.
Jason has been raised by you. Are you sure
you want to let him go?”
Before I could answer, Jason stormed in,
pointing at Donna,
<
“Aunt Donna, why are you trying to get rid of
me! Didn’t you say you liked me and wanted
to be my mom?”
Donna’s face froze.
She wanted to sow discord between me and
Jason, testing my limits.
She didn’t know these words would threaten
Jason’s interests.
Because he didn’t have a rich and happy life
with his father, he resented me, his own
mother.
Let alone Donna.
Sure enough.
Jason roared, “You bring your daughter here
to enjoy a good life, but you want to kick me
out to suffer. What’s your intention!
If you keep doing this, I won’t help you!”
He stood his ground, like he’d found Donna’s
weakness.
I almost laughed.
<
My foolish son.
Donna used to pamper him because she was
a single mother; she had to be humble.
Now she’s pregnant, she’s confident.
Donna suppressed her discomfort; she didn’t
want to openly clash, placating him,
“Jason, Aunt Donna isn’t trying to get rid of
you; I adore you. I’m just worried your mother
won’t love you.‘
Jason disdainfully glanced at me, “I have you
all loving and caring for me. I don’t need her.”
Donna challenged me; I shrugged indifferently.
The reverse psychology didn’t work!
I even gave her a thumbs–up, “Ms. Donna, I’ve
never seen such a successful stepmother. I
admire you.”
Jason’s father couldn’t take it anymore,
standing up, “Enough! Nina, I didn’t know you
were so heartless, so sarcastic!
You just don’t want Jason, you want the
money! Fine, I’ll give it to you!”
My mother–in–law also yelled, “Think
carefully! Once you leave, you’ll have nothing
to do with Jason! Even if you beg me, it’s no
use!”
Seeing their rage, I was ecstatic!
Now it’s your turn to be furious and negative.
Donna still wasn’t willing to let go of her
prize, saying resentfully, “She’s a stay–at-
home mom, earning nothing. Why should she
get so much?
We have three children to raise, and she’ll just
leave for a carefree life.”
I just smiled at Jason’s father, who looked
miserable as he tried to explain to Donna.
Donna angrily went to me, “What? Are you
going to sue me? I’m a veteran employee; at
worst, I was lax. I should sue you for resume
fraud!
I’ll blacklist you in the HR community; you’ll
never find a job!”
My sister–in–law had gotten me that job; the
whole family plotted against me. I never even
wrote a resume.
Donna thought she could intimidate me
because I was inexperienced and lacked
connections. No way.
I calmly took out my phone, “Then I should tell
Mr. He about how I got this job.
A mistress is so generous to give a backdoor
to the ex–wife. Mr. He should reward such an
employee…‘
Donna sneered, looking unafraid.
I slowly revealed Mr. He’s number,
“1314587…”
Her face finally changed, she yelled, “Enough!
I’m not arguing with you anymore!”
I didn’t care to argue.
After getting the divorce papers, I whispered,
“Donna. cherish your position as He’s
Group’s HR director.”
She was furious, glaring at me.
I smiled and walked away.
Jason didn’t look at me; the family huddled
together harmoniously.
Good, Donna’s good at manipulation; I’ll see
who’s better
–
my useless son or the
scheming Donna!
