The lab door opened, Jessica standing at the
entrance, calling softly. “You haven’t rested
properly in three days.”
Ethan didn’t seem to hear.
Jessica cautiously approached, noticing the
unshed tears in his eyes. She froze. “You…”
“Chloe is dead, but you’re saved.”
Ethan spoke suddenly, his voice as cold as
ice. “Isn’t it ironic?”
Jessica’s face turned pale as paper. She
opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
“I knew, after Chloe died, her transformative
power would disappear, and you’d become
human again.”
Ethan said softly, almost inaudibly.
My soul trembled.
He knew?
Then why…
Jessica clearly shared my question. Her eyes
widened. “You knew?”
“Yes.”
“Then why…”
“Why didn’t you kill her?”
Ethan sneered, a laugh that pierced my
nonexistent heart.
“I couldn’t. Even though she risked her life to
get rid of me. I couldn’t bear to…‘
“Now you’re cured. Go. I think Chloe wouldn’t
want to see you.”
Ethan’s voice was exhausted.
Jessica stood still, unmoving.
She looked at the ashes, a sneer gradually
curving her lips.
“Chloe doesn’t want to see me?”
Her tone suddenly sharpened. “She’s just a
pile of ash now, she can’t see anything.”

Ethan looked up sharply, a dangerous glint in
his eyes.
“Don’t act so heartbroken, Ethan.”
Jessica continued, her voice full of sarcasm.
“Do you think she’ll be grateful for your
remorse now? When you tormented her, why
didn’t you think about this?”
“Shut up.” Ethan growled.
“Why shut up? Because the truth is too
ugly?”
Jessica sneered. “You know, she hated you.‘
<
Ethan’s face changed. “What did you say?”
“She hated you with all her being.” Jessica
became even more brazen.
“You killed her parents with your own hands;
you hurt her.”
“She won’t forgive you.”
35
Ethan clutched his head in pain.
“It’s all because of you, it’s you…‘
Ethan suddenly grabbed Jessica’s throat.
“Everyone who wronged Chloe will pay the
price, including you.”
“What do you mean?” Jessica struggled to
ask.
Ethan suddenly smiled.
“What are you going to do?” Jessica
screamed.
He picked up a scalpel from the lab bench.
“Ethan! No! Please!” Jessica struggled in
terror.
“Chloe begged me too.”
く
Ethan sneered. “Begged me not to hurt her
people, begged me to spare her parents.”
“But did I listen?”
He leaned down, his lips close to Jessica’s
ear. “I didn’t. Now, you’ll taste this feeling
too.”
The scalpel sliced Jessica’s wrist, blood
flowing down her arm.
Jessica’s screams echoed through the lab,
but Ethan’s expression remained unchanged.
“You know?”
He said softly. “I not only knew you’d become
human after Chloe died, I also know how to
turn you back into a vampire.
With that, Ethan stripped Jessica, throwing
her into the remaining vampires.
Jessica’s eyes widened in fear. “No, you
can’t…”
Ethan’s voice was terrifyingly calm. “I’ll turn
you into a vampire, then I’ll torment you in
L
every way Chloe suffered.”
“No! Don’t!” Jessica struggled, but Ethan
was far stronger.
“Too late.”
He said coldly. “You’ll become a vampire,
, and I’ll make you experience
everything Chloe went through.”
“Every day, every night, until I’m satisfied.”
Jessica convulsed in pain, the transformation
already beginning.
Ethan stood, coldly watching Jessica among
the vampires.
Three days passed, Jessica’s transformation
complete.
She was bound to the table where I’d lain
countless times, silver cuffs locking her wrists
and ankles.
Her skin was pale as paper, her eyes scarlet
from the vampire transformation.
Ethan stood beside her, toying with a silver
く
needle, expressionless.
“Please, Ethan.”
Jessica croaked, her voice full of fear. “|
know I was wrong, please forgive me.”
“Forgive you?”
Ethan sneered. “Did you forgive Chloe when
she begged you?”
He raised the needle, slowly and precisely
piercing Jessica’s nail bed, just as she’d done
to me.
A sharp scream echoed through the lab,
memories flooding back.
Once, it had been my voice, my pain.
“This is just the beginning, Jessica.”
Watching this, I felt no satisfaction, only
sorrow.
Ethan seemed to sense something; he looked
up suddenly.
“Chloe.”
He whispered. “Are you watching? All this is

for you.”

Ethan turned to Jessica, his eyes cold.
“Today, you’ll experience Chloe’s first
torment–sunlight.”
Jessica’s eyes widened in fear. “No, don’t! I’ll
die!”
“Die?”
