Chapter 13 Please Do Not Call Me Out
Wynter was already waiting for her at the practice range.
#Finished
She wore a canary yellow jumpsuit, her hair styled in large, atmospheric waves that radiated a youthful allure and charm.
She gave Jemima a once–over and sighed in exasperation. “Honestly, you might as well wrap your whole neck up too.”
Jemima smiled lightly: “Tm here for to get hired for a job
Jemima didn’t see any issue with her outfit. She was dressed in a sky–blue tracksuit, her hair neatly tied up in a high ponytail She had opted for a natural, minimalist makeup look to look fresh, neat, and appropriate. It looked just fine to her.
“Babe, men are visual creatures. If Scott just wanted a pretty face for his chief secretary, that position wouldn’t still be vacant. You can be beautiful and capable at the same time.”
Wynter playfully poked her. “Luckily, I brought an extra outfit. We’re about the same size—you can wear it.”
With that, she dragged Jemima to the changing room without giving her a chance to protest and forced her into a wardrobe change
Since she was counting on Wynter for an introduction, Jemima couldn’t outright refuse the gesture.
Once she stepped out in the new outfit, she was instantly transformed into a sultry linle vixen.
She wore a white, form–fitting sleeveless top paired with a sizzling black pleated mini skirt that accentuated her curves perfectly. Her long, creamy–white legs were so stunning they could probably steal a man’s soul at a glance.
“Oh my gosh“” Wynter dramatically covered her mouth. “Jemima, who knew you had such a killer body? Julius is really missing out, and what does Nadine have that you don’t”
Jemima automatically ignored the last part
She stared at herself in the mirror anxiously. If I dress this way, will Scott think I’m trying to seduce him?
“Wynter. I think-
“Shh“Wynter held up a finger to hush her, then pulled out her phone from her small bag to answer a call. “Hello, Mr. Cheisman? You and Mr. Sterling are already there? Got it, we’ll be right over.”
Seeing this. Jemima couldn’t bring herself to insist on changing back.
They set off to meet Taylor Cheisman
On the way, Jemima asked, “Wynter, have you ever met Scott before?”
“Actually, I have. When I was six, I went with my parents to the Sterling family’s New Year’s gathering. He was still a kid back then, with fair skin and chubby little cheeks. He was quite adorable. However, after my family fell on hard times, we never visited again. He left for overseas when he was about ten and hasn’t been seen much in the country since.”
“I see…”
Fair–skinned, chubby, adorable. The image of a loaf of freshly baked bread suddenly popped into Jemima’s head.
The golf cart made a turn on the golf course.
A vast green landscape unfolded before them.
Beyond it lay a forest and a lake. Nearby, two men in sportswear stood engaged in conversation.
Jemima’s gaze locked onto one of them, and her pupils dilated in shock.
The one in the navy blue top and camel–colored pants was Taylor Cheisman.
Beside him stood a man half a head taller, dressed entirely in white sportswear. His tall and slender figure was poised, with

Fuished
When he turned his face slightly, the interplay of light and shadow sculpted his features to perfection. He looked so stunning it felt as if he had a built–in beauty filter.
Jemima felt momentarily dizzy
She had met Taylor before, so that meant the man standing next to him could only be
“Scott Sterling
Beside her, Wynter let out an excited whisper. “Oh my gosh, he looks nothing like he did as a kid? How did he grow up to be this tall and handsome? I think I’m going to swoon!”
“This is bad.”
“You too? Did you just fall head over heels for Scott at first sight?”
Jemima said nothing, her expression scrunching up in distress.
The golf cart came to a stop.
The two men engaged in conversation also noticed them.
Taylor smiled and waved at them. A flicker of admiration crossed his eyes as he glanced at Jemima.
Scott’s surprise flickered for just a moment before an icy detachment replaced it. His entire demeanor exuded an unapproachable chill
Wynter led Jemima forward.
Since she was already here, she might as well go with the flow. Even if the chances were slim, she still wanted to give it her
best shot.
“Mr. Cheisman, Mr. Sterling
As they approached, Wynter greeted them warmly before eagerly introducing Jemima to Scott. “This is my best friend. Jemima Willis. She came today especially to witness Mr. Sterling’s brilliance firsthand
Jemima was anxious but maintained a flawless smile.
Taylor teased, “I was wondering why the lovely Ms. Willis would suddenly be interested in a game of golf. She even dressed up nicely. Turns out she’s here for Mr. Sterling. Quite ambitious.”
Jemima ignored Taylor’s teasing. She greeted him politely, then turned to Scott and spoke sincerely. “Mr. Sterling, this is our first meeting. Nice to see you.
The moment she finished, she realized her mistake.
Her gaze faltered. It was a slip of the tongue.
“First meeting?
Scott’s icy gaze fell on her face.
Jemima maintained her poised and respectful demeanor, though she was internally crumbling. She decided to feign. ignorance, piling on an extra layer of her impeccable smile. “It’s truly a pleasure to meet you.”
She looked at him with a mix of nervousness and silent pleading.
Please don’t call me out on this
G
Scott seemed to understand the message in her eyes and couldn’t help but smile. “Ms. Willis, you do seem quite happy.”
His deep voice carried a lazy amusement, and every word he uttered seemed to be laced with an indulgent undertone.
That smile sent shivers down Taylor and Wynter’s spines. Hah? Did that work?

Wynter shot Jemima a knowing look: See? I told you changing outfits was the right move. If you’ve got killer assets, use them.
Jemima sighed internally.
Ugh, how is that a compliment! He is obviously mocking me.
They started playing.
Finisher
Scott’s golf skills were excellent, and Taylor wasn’t bad either. Wynter and Jemima took a few swings but mostly played the role of cheerleaders.
After a while, they took a break in the shade.
Wynter deliberately dragged Taylor off to the club’s store to pick a new golf club, creating an opportunity for Jemima and
Scott to be alone.
Scott took a seat.
Eager to curry favor, Jemima quickly twisted open a bottle of water and handed it to him.
Scott stared at her hand for a few seconds before taking the bottle. He didn’t make things difficult for her.
Instead of drinking, he simply set it on the table.
Jemima let out a heavy sigh in her heart.
Is this a lost cause!
“Ms. Willis, we’re meeting for the first time. You’ve gone through such lengths to get to know me. Surely, you’re not just interested in my measurements?” Scott casually asked while elegantly dabbing his forehead with a handkerchief.
Jemima fell silent.
His tone was casual yet laced with a subtle sting
Jemima pressed her lips together. After considering her response for a moment, she replied, “Calling this a first meeting was a slip of the tongue. Last time, I asked Mr. Callen about your… That was because I accidentally got your suit dirty and wanted to replace it. I was hoping to see you because I heard that you’re seeking to hire a secretary.”
When she mentioned the job opening, she automatically switched to a more formal tone, highlighting her intent.
Scott set down the hapdkerchief and stated bluntly, “You’re not suitable.”
Then, without another word, he stood up and walked toward the forest.
He said no even before asking any questions? Jemima wasn’t having it. Fired up, she got up and followed him.
As the two of them disappeared into the trees, a golf cart carrying Julius, Nadine, and a client passed by the course in the distance.
Julius
gaze landed on that seductive, graceful figure walking ahead, and his brows furrowed.
