“Later, Daryl found out about it. He came up with a way to make it look like the two were still alive, even fabricating a story about a workplace accident. To ensure the rest of the factory workers played along, he arranged for their wages to be split evenly among them. From that moment on, they were completely under his control, working for him without question.” Zander explained.
He continued, “Daryl wasn’t just in it for some extra cash–his greed knew no bounds. He started a renewable energy company under his brother–in–law’s name and forced Camron to steal research data and smuggle out raw materials. Even the JCCORHILITI, WCJA ÎI on it, manipulating the financial records, while the workshop director covered for them. It was shocking. What was originally thought to be a small issue turned out to be a complete disister.
Just hearing about it was enough to leave Jemima deeply shaken. She had expected things wouldn’t be so simple, but she hadn’t imagined the problem ran this deep,
She glanced at Scott, “Is there going to be a major shake–up because of this?”
The factory had already fallen into complete disarray–there had to be someone from the company’s side involved too. Otherwise, there was no way they could have pulled this off right under Naomi’s nose without being caught.
Scott nodded. “There has to be. The performance here has always been subpar, and I’ve been meaning to restructure things for a while. Now, I have every reason to. It’s not necessarily a bad thing.”
When he said that, Jemima suddenly had a strange sense of déjà vu–like she was a loyal hunting dog standing before the crown prince.
And he was smithing out his prey, ready to go for the kill.
Just then, the door swung open. Julius had arrived.
His face was already pale, but the moment he saw Scott sitting there again, it darkened further–like he’d just plummeted. straight into the depths of hell.
“Mr. Sterling, you come to see another man’s wife every day. What exactly are you after?”
Jemima inhaled sharply. “Julius, have you lost your mind?
Scott, however, remained calm. “I came to check on how my employee is recovering. After all, she got hurt because of me
His words were neutral enough, but something about them felt strangely off.
Julius‘ forehead veins bulged with anger. “Listen carefully–she’s my woman In life, she’s mine. In death, she’s my ghost. If anyone dares to lay a hand on her, I will kill them.”
Scott didn’t respond with words–just a faint, amused smile. He hadn’t said a thing, yet somehow, it still felt like a challenge- like Julius had just cracked a joke that only he found funny.
And Julius clearly picked up on it. His presence became even more oppressive.
Sweat formed on Zander’s forehead. “Mr. Stahl, you’re completely misunderstanding the situation. We’re just here for a friendly visit, nothing more. Also, Mr. Sterling isn’t some playboy–he’s a man of integrity. I can assure you, he would never have inappropriate thoughts about Ms. Willis.”
Scott shot Zander a look, his expression unreadable.
Jemima, on the other hand, was so mortified her head started pounding-
She didn’t care to explain herself to Julius, but she definitely couldn’t let Scott take the blame for something that wasn’t true. “Julius, can you stop jumping to conclusions? Mr. Sterling has no interest in me whatsoever–he doesn’t even like women!”
All three men were stunned,
The room instantly fell into absolute silence.
After a moment, Scott exhaled, his expression caught somewhere between amusement and sheer exasperation. “Ms. Willis, thank you for announcing that. I really should reward you for this.”

It took Jemima a second to realize what he had just said. Panicked, she quickly tried to correct herself. “Wait–I didn’t mean that you like men! What I meant was-

The door shut
Jemima fell silent.
Julius narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “Is Scott gay? He doesn’t seem like it.”
The veins in Jemima’s temples throbbed. “Julius, it’s over between us. Even if you refuse to sign the divorce agreement, still over! Stop calling me your wife, stop referring to me as your woman! I don’t belong to anyone–I belong to myself!”
Julius’s voice was cold, unwavering. “Only in death will our story end.” It wasn’t a simple declaration—it was like he was carving those words into her very bones, making sure she understood exactly where he stood.
She was determined to leave him.
And he was just as determined not to let her go..
The next morning. Zander had already settled the hospital bills and taken care of the discharge paperwork. He was just waiting for the driver before picking Jemina up.
Truthfully, he was under a lot of pressure. But even so, he still made his way inside.
“Why should she take his plane? We’ve got our own. We don’t need your help,” Julius said dismissively when he heard they had come to escort Jemima to the airport.
Jemima ignored him. Instead, she focused on getting out of bed and gestured for Zander to bring the wheelchair over.
Julius, however, suddenly stood up and grabbed the wheelchair first.
Immediately, Jemima’s mood soured. “Are you trying to start a fight? Or do you just want to argue? My leg is barely healed. and you seriously want me to stand up and risk tearing it open again? Would that make you happy?”
