Her Husband's Ch 10

Chapter 10

Adam couldn’t stop himself from grinning as he strolled out of the office early. Today was going to be different.

Today, he was going to make things right with Sophie. She deserved better than what he’d given her lately, and he was determined to fix it.

In his pocket sat the bracelet he had picked out earlier—a simple yet elegant piece adorned with tiny diamonds. It was perfect for Sophie, understated but meaningful, much like her.

Adam imagined her reaction, her smile softening the tension that had clouded their home lately.

The memory of their argument replayed in his mind as he got into his car. She had every right to be upset, but today, he was going to show her that he was all in, that she mattered more than anything.

His phone buzzed, interrupting his thoughts. Brenda.

Adam scowled, his good mood faltering. He didn’t want to deal with Brenda’s antics right now. Whatever it was, it could wait. Sophie was his priority.

The phone buzzed again, then again, each notification gnawing at his resolve. He sighed and reached for his phone, scrolling through the messages.

“If you care about Sophie, you’ll come to my house. Now.”

Adam frowned, unease creeping into his chest. Why would Brenda bring up Sophie? Why would she demand he come to her house?

His first instinct was to ignore it, to brush off whatever game she was playing. But something about the message felt different.

With a heavy sigh, he turned the car around and headed toward Brenda’s house. His mind raced as he drove, scenarios flashing through his head.

Had something happened to Sophie? Why would Brenda know anything about it?

When he arrived, the house looked ordinary—quiet, almost serene. He parked hastily and got out, his pulse quickening.

The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the yard, and Adam couldn’t shake the growing sense of dread.

He approached the door, hesitating for a moment before knocking. Just as his knuckles grazed the wood, the door swung open.

It wasn’t Brenda who stood there. It was Sophie.

Adam froze, his breath catching in his throat. Sophie’s expression was cold, her eyes hard and unyielding. She stepped out, holding a stack of papers in her hand. Without a word, she flung them at him, the pages scattering slightly before he caught them.

“Sign it,” she said, her voice sharp and commanding.

Adam stared at the papers, his hands trembling as he realized what they were: DIVORCE AGREEMENT.

“Sophie,” he began, his voice cracking. “What is this? Why are you—”

She interrupted him, pointed to the papers in his hands, her face expressionless. “Sign it.”

The words hit him like a punch to the gut. He reached out, desperate to close the gap between them, but Sophie took another step back, holding up her hand to stop him.

And she repeated with more determination now. “Sign the papers, Adam.”
