Her Husband’s Ch 7

Her Husband's Ch 7

Chapter 7

Sophie stared at Brenda, her frustration bubbling over. The silence between them was thick, almost suffocating.

“I know what happened, Brenda. I know about the baby,” she said, her voice tight with restrained anger. “You don’t have to pretend anymore.”

Brenda flinched, her eyes wide with shock, but she didn’t speak. She stood there, clutching her cup of tea like it was the only thing holding her together.

Sophie exhaled sharply, pacing back and forth in the small living room. She had to get the truth. She wasn’t leaving here until she got answers.

“Brenda, stop avoiding me,” Sophie continued, her voice rising with frustration. “We both know what’s going on. You don’t have to act like nothing happened. I know about the baby… I heard everything.”

Brenda’s eyes darted nervously, refusing to meet Sophie’s gaze. She fiddled with the rim of her cup, her fingers trembling.

Sophie’s patience was wearing thin. She was tired of the half-truths, the lies. She needed the full story. And she was going to get it, no matter what.

“Are you sleeping with my husband?” Sophie’s voice cut through the quiet, sharp and direct.

Brenda’s jaw dropped. Her mouth opened, but no words came out. She looked like she was drowning in the weight of Sophie’s question.

Sophie took a step closer, her eyes narrowing. “Is Adams the father of the child you lost?”

Brenda’s face paled further, her expression frozen in shock. She looked like she had seen a ghost.

Sophie could feel her heart racing. She had to know. She needed to know. She wasn’t going to leave this apartment until she heard the truth from Brenda’s lips.

“Brenda, please,” Sophie whispered, her voice desperate. “Tell me. I need to know. Is it him? Is Adams the father of your baby?”

Brenda’s eyes flickered with emotion, but still, she said nothing.

Sophie’s frustration boiled over. She grabbed Brenda by the shoulders, forcing her to look at her. “If you don’t tell me, I swear I’ll go straight to Adams and ask him myself. I’m not leaving until I get an answer.”

Brenda’s breath hitched as if she were holding back a confession. Sophie could feel the tension in the room, the unspoken truth hanging between them.

But just as Sophie thought Brenda might finally speak, the doorbell rang, cutting through the thick silence like a knife.

Brenda glanced toward the door, her expression shifting. Sophie wasn’t ready for this conversation to end, not yet, not before she had answers.

“I have to go,” Sophie said, her frustration mounting again. She stood up quickly, grabbing her bag.

Brenda was already moving toward the door, her body stiff, her eyes darting toward Sophie.

She hesitated, but then opened the door slowly. Sophie stepped forward, but before she could make it past Brenda, she collided with someone else.

It was Adams.

Sophie froze, staring up at him in shock. Her heart skipped a beat.

Adams looked surprised, too. His expression quickly morphed into one of guarded confusion. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice tight with tension.

Adams’ expression hardened as he glanced over at Sophie and grabbed her hand. “Let’s go home, Sophie. We need to talk.”

Sophie yanked her hands free before racing to her car.
