8 Chapter 8
Seeing Garrison again was half a year later.
I went out to the supermarket, not expecting it to suddenly start pouring rain.
Dane called to tell me to wait for him inside the supermarket, saying he’d come pick me up.
Ten minutes later, he stormed towards me furiously, roughly grabbing my hand and yanking me backwards.
I was only stunned for a moment before I started struggling and cursed,
“Garrison! Let go of me!”
Though Dane and he looked identical, their temperaments couldn’t be more different. I had no reason not to recognize him.
Seeing I wanted to run, he immediately chased after me, cornering me as he said,
“Pretty good at running away, huh? To think you’d hide somewhere so far!”
“It’s been six months already, how long do you plan on hiding?”
I kept backing away under his aggressive advance,
“Garrison, weren’t you the one who couldn’t wait to get rid of me?”
“I did what you wanted, so why are you acting crazy now?”
Garrison let out a cold laugh,

“I get it, you’re still mad about the basement incident, aren’t you?”
“I’ve looked into that matter. It really was Melody’s scheme, but you didn’t have to leave without a word over something so trivial!”
“Didn’t you love me? Was it all fake?“I pushed against his shoulders. with both hands, trying to shove him away, but Garrison didn’t budge an inch.

“Garrison, I remember telling you clearly that I don’t love at
all!”
But the always self–assured Garrison refused to believe it.
For these seven years, he had brainwashed himself countless times that Jolene was madly in love with him. Now that she suddenly disappeared, how could he possibly let go?
“Stop lying and saying the opposite of what you feel!”
“Isn’t this what you want me to say? Fine, I promise you, from now on you can love me, you can tell others you’re my wife, and you have the right to stand by my side. Is that enough……”
Before he could finish, a hand suddenly pulled him away and swung a fierce punch.
Garrison staggered back several steps, tumbling onto the soda shelf.
In an instant, cans fell all over the floor, crashing onto him, making him look utterly disheveled.
After a long moment, he rubbed his swollen cheek and cursed under his breath,

“Fuck!”
“Who dares to hit me!”
When he looked at Dane standing beside me, he froze completely.
Garrison scrambled to his feet, pointing at Dane and cursing,
“Jolene, you still dare say you don’t love me!“In my heart, where love found no home, you fled to Switzerland for cloning. How sickening can you be?”
“I’ve already told you I can give you what you want, but now you
must come home with me!”
“Don’t forget, we’re not divorced yet! I’m still your husband, and I’m ordering you to come home now!”
But I let out a cold laugh and said,
“Garrison, didn’t the divorce office send you a confirmation?”
“Divorce? What divorce?”
Garrison looked utterly confused. I hadn’t expected that after nearly a year, he still didn’t know he’d been divorced.
“Remember that property transfer agreement you signed? It wasn’t a transfer agreement at all, but divorce papers!”
“You can call and check if you don’t believe me!”
Not wanting to drag this out any longer, I grabbed Dane’s hand, ready to leave.
“Come on, Dane. You’re hurt. Let’s go home and treat that wound…”
But before I could finish, Garrison rushed over, blocking our path,
