I slapped her across the face, over and over, letting out all the anger that had been eating at me. Wendolene always played the helpless victim in front of Heston, badmouthing me every chance she got. And yeah, I was

I let go, dusting off my hands, watching her kneel on the ground, sobbing like a mess.

Heston had been waiting in the lounge when he saw Wendolene approaching, looking completely wrecked. When he heard what had happened, his hands clenched into fists.

Wendolene’s eyes turned red. *Tonny, what am I to you? I just want to be by your side. You and Yvonne are already divorced–why can’t it be me?

Heston gripped the ring so tightly its sharp edges dug into his palm, but the pain in his heart was worse.

Knowing the bidding meeting was pointless now, he got up, scanning the venue for Yvonne.
