After leaving Heston and FitzTech Innovations, I wanted to take them down step by step through my own efforts
But I didn’t expect victory to come so soon
I had barely completed one project when Henrik banded me the acquisition contract.X
A strange feeling rose in my chest..
I texted Henrik [What do you mean?!
Henrik replied: I’m giving you FitzTech Innovations. Whatever you plan to do with it, I’ll support you
The acquisition contract was in my hands. I could merge Fitz Tech Innovations into my company or just change its name outright
In other words, Fitz Tech Innovations would cease to exist!
Henrik really handed me a huge gift!
I received another message from Henrik. [You don’t like it?

Hennik knew exactly what I wanted. Everything he did felt sincere.

I looked at the acquisition contract. The name FitzTech Innovations carried too many memories. X
Silently, I made up my mind.
In the CEO’s office at VerdantCore Technologies, Henrik closed the contract and looked at me. “Yvonne, are you sure you want to merge FitzTech Innovations into the company? No regrets?”
He had originally planned to let me be the president of FitzTech Innovations.
That company was mine to begin with. He was just returning it to its rightful owner.
I shook my head. “I’m sure. I won’t regret it.”
The moment I decided to join VerdantCore Technologies, I no longer wanted Fitz Tech Innovations to exist
“Hank, thank you for the gift. I really like it.”
I smiled as I thanked him. Face–to–face conversations carried more warmth than cold text messages.
Henrik chuckled softly. “Alright. I hear you. I’ll do as you wish.“%
The news of VerdantCore Technologies acquiring FitzTech Innovations made waves locally. Before Heston could even show up, his parents came looking for me first.
They weren’t allowed inside, so they waited at the entrance.
As I stepped out of Henrik’s car, they spotted me and immediately started yelling.
“Yvonne! You’re heartless! Even after divorcing him, you still went after my son’s company? How can someone be as cold–blooded as you?”
“If you want to come back to the Fitzhughs, you’d better return the company to my son! Otherwise, don’t even think about stepping through our door!”
I stared at them coldly. They were always like this–acting as if the whole world should follow their wishes.
“FitzTech Innovations was partly mine. It was never just Heston’s. If it’s been acquired, that only proves he wasn’t capable of keeping it.“X
If he had the ability to protect FitzTech Innovations, it wouldn’t have ended up in VerdantCore Technologies’s hands.
Heston’s mom pointed a finger at my face and started cursing, but Henrik stepped in front of me, warning them that if they kept harassing me, he’d call the cops.X
That only made them yell even louder X
Henrik shielded me as we headed home, their voices fading behind us.
“It’s okay, I’ll protect you,” he said.
I turned back for a glance and saw Heston stepping out from behind a car.ll
So, he’s been watching this whole time–watching his parents scold me, doing nothing.
Wendolene stands behind him. They look more like a family than I ever had with him…
That thought crossed my mind, but it didn’t stir any feelings in me.ll
They are a family And I have my own
Later that night, Henrik stayed for dinner, and I walked him out when he left.
Back in the living room, I found my parents waiting for me.lt

Mom waved me over. “Come here, sweetheart. What do you think of Hank?“%
I frowned. “What do I think? He’s my good friend.”
It had been a long time since we reconnected. At first, things felt a little distant, but after spending time together, he had become a close friend.E
Mom gave me a knowing smile. “Just a friend? I don’t think that guy sees it that way.“”
Dad spoke up in a steady voice. “I can tell. There’s a certain tenderness in his eyes when he looks at you. Can’t you feel it? After everything he’s done for you these past few days–doesn’t it seem like he likes you?”
“No way!” I denied it immediately. “Hank told me–we’re just friends.”
Mom wrapped an arm around my shoulders. “Yvie, I’m only telling you this so you can see things clearly. The best way to move on from a past relationship is to step into a new one. And Hank is a great choice.
I practically ran upstairs to escape.
But their words… they kept circling in my mind.
