Chapter 43
Atty. Lichtman handed me the agreement.
“Ma’am, both of your parents want you to come home.“”
Five years ago, I cut ties with my parents to marry Heston.
They told me I had to choose–Heston or my family.
For the sake of so–called love, I chose Heston.
And I got slapped in the face for it. A lot of people might love me, but no one loves me more than my parents.
I wiped my tears and closed the agreement.
“Handle everything with the company want results in three days.”
Atty. Lichtman was the legal advisor for my family’s company and a top lawyer in the industry.
Soon, Pepper came by with flowers, feeling sorry about what had happened.
The accident was sudden, but I didn’t blame anyone–except for Heston and Wendolene for their affair. They had to pay for what they did.
I comforted Pepper and was happy to hear she had finally decided to divorce her husband.
She was about to start a new life. So was 13
Three days later, Atty. Lichtman finalized my resignation from Heston’s company
“Wendolene was promoted to Heston’s special assistant. He’s been trying to talk to you these past few days, but I kept him away.”
By then, I had mostly recovered. The doctor said I could be discharged.
“Take me to the villa. I need to pack my things.“}
The first thing I did after getting out of the hospital was reclaim what was mine.
The only thing I refused to take was that villa. It felt filthy.
Just thinking about those two messing around in there made me sick.
Atty. Lichtman drove me over.!
Somehow, Heston had gotten the news and was already waiting inside.!!
*Yvonne! Are you feeling better? I made some chicken soup to help you recover. Do you want some?”
The arrogance he had a few days ago was gone. Maybe because he had already signed the divorce papers.
He was hoping for forgiveness.
I let out a cold laugh and walked straight to the bedroom, ignoring him.
He followed me. “Yvonne, I’ve already apologized. Stop being so stubborn.”
Then he played the emotional card. “We’ve been married for five years. Don’t you care about those five years at all? Do you really want a divorce?”
I pulled out a suitcase and started packing.
“The papers are already signed. What’s the point of saying all this now?”
Yeah, five years of marriage–did that ever cross his mind when he was cheating?
All he probably thought about was another woman’s body.X
And it wasn’t just once. He had been cheating for three years while playing the role of a loving husband. What an
asshole
“You submitted your resignation, but I won’t approve it. The company needs you. You’re doing a great job as the marketing director. Why leave?”%
I looked up and shot him a cold glare.
“Heston, what exactly are you trying to say?”
“Don’t divorce me. Let’s go back to how things were, okay? The company needs you. I need you.”
Gosh. His words disgusted me.
We built that company together. He was the chairman and CEO, and I was the marketing director in charge of product promotion.!
me?
I put in just as much effort as anyone else.!!
But because I was blinded by love, all the company shares ended up in his hands.
Now he was begging me–was it just to maintain his image? Or did he finally realize the company couldn’t run without

I shook off his hand from my wrist. “Not a chance.”
Cheating was a dealbreaker. I could never forgive him.!!
I packed my clothes, jewelry, and other important things.
Anything that held memories of Heston–I left behind.”
I took off my wedding ring and placed it on the bedside table.
“I’m not its owner anymore.”
Heston blocked my way, his voice soft. “Yvonne, nothing happened between Wendy and me. If you don’t want to see her, I can have her move out.
“Your accusations are unfair. I don’t accept this so–called affair you keep bringing up.
“As for the baby… I admit I paid too much attention to Wendy. But that’s just a small thing.”
Even now, he was still trying to talk his way out of it.”
But I only believed what I had seen and what I had investigated.
“Heston, I’ve already wasted five years on you.” I looked at him, expressionless. “Now, the only thing you should be thinking about is how you’re going to deal with my revenge.”
I stared straight at him. “Move. Don’t make me slap you.”
“You wouldn’t dare!”
Heston was both shocked and angry. He couldn’t believe that the woman who had always listened to him, always done whatever he said, had become like this.
I used to take every word he said to heart and quietly work hard to make it happen.!
