I hadn’t heard her say my name like that in five
years.
Wasn’t she supposed to hate me?
She spent five years saying I killed Sarah, that I
deserved to die for it. But now that I’m dead,
why is she in pain?
Even as a ghost, I was confused.
Dad had been zapped too, collapsing on the
floor next to her.
く
And just then, someone spoke from the
doorway.
“Mom, Dad, I’m home!”
Standing there was a woman, dressed in bright
clothes.
One look, and I recognized my sister. The sister
I had supposedly killed five years ago.
Chapter 6
Mom’s lips trembled, staring at her resurrected
daughter. “Sarah, is that really you?”
Sarah’s eyes were red too, tears streaming
down her face. “I’m sorry, Mom, I’m back.”
The family of three hugged, crying their eyes
out.
“Where have you been all these years, where
<
were you?! Mom and Dad thought you… were
dead.”
Mom held Sarah’s face, studying her, scared it
was all a dream.
She’d dreamt so many times that Sarah was
home.
But each time, she’d wake up, tears on her
pillow, and just endless sadness.
Sarah, eyes red, started explaining, “I’m sorry,
Mom.”
“See, I’m doing pretty good now.”
Seeing her rebellious daughter standing there,
Mom raised her hand to slap her, but couldn’t.
When her hand touched Sarah’s cheek, it was a
tender stroke.
Mom and Dad were welcoming her home like
she had been away for a business trip.
Dad scolded her. “You’re alive, you could have
called us. Why would you call Nora three times
and leave that note?”
When Sarah called me, she had left a note for
Mom and Dad too.
It just said: “Mom, Dad, I’m leaving. Take care
of Nora.”
Sarah explained she left that note to make sure
they took care of me.
She felt bad that her little sister had suffered so
much after being trafficked.
“I called her, wanting to talk, but she never
answered,” Sarah explained sadly.
After hearing her story, Mom and Dad’s faces
went pale.
く
Before they could push her further, Sarah
explained, “Actually, the reason I left is because
I was pregnant.”
It turned out, Sarah had fallen for a “bad boy”
in high school.
After they got together, Sarah was surprised to
find she was pregnant with his baby.
She was terrified, knowing her parents would
never let her keep the child.
So, she faked her death and ran away with him.
“So, you left for five years, chasing after the
love you wanted, is that it?”
Sarah didn’t say anything, and sometimes
silence is the answer.
For five years, I had always believed it was my fault for missing Sarah’s calls, so whenever
<
Mom and Dad were cold, yelled, I couldn’t say
anything back.
Even in death, I had thought I was getting what
I deserved.
But now, Mom and Dad, you see? I didn’t kill
Sarah… I DIDN’T!!!
Floating in the air, I could see my parent’s
faces twisting with guilt, their eyes turning red.
Sarah didn’t see it though, she went over and
grabbed a suitcase.
“Oh yeah! Mom and Dad, I got you gifts!”
“I also got my little sister her favorite imported chocolates. She’s a sugar fiend. Whenever I
was around, she would always ask me for
candy.”
“And little sis is done with school now, right?
<
Her scores must be pretty good.”
She looked around, but couldn’t find me
anywhere.
“Where’s my sister? Why isn’t she here?”
Chapter 7
Mom’s head hung low, and her face was full of regret.
Her words struck Sarah like a lightning bolt.
Her face went white and she almost fell.
Grabbing the couch, she managed to stay
standing.
“What happened at home in the five years I was
gone?!”
After being pushed, Mom told her everything

they had done to me over the past five years.
When she got to the part about my body being dumped at the hospital, Mom was sobbing.
Aside from tears, Sarah was burning with anger.
She stormed into my bedroom.
