Jennifer froze at Daniel’s words.

She leaned heavily on her cane, unable to hold back any longer.
Jennifer turned to face them, her voice laced with bitterness. “So what? Is apologizing such a monumental feat?”
Daniel sensed the distance in her demeanor and narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”
Jennifer’s gaze was icy as she retorted, “I mean, just because you apologize doesn’t mean I have to accept it.”
“What do you want me to do, then?” he asked, frustration creeping into his voice.

With a steely glare, Jennifer replied, “I already told you. I won’t accept your so–called superior apology. What else do you want from me?”
Daniel was momentarily taken aback, struggling to find the right words.
After a long pause, he finally managed to say, “I’m just trying to figure out what it would take for you to stop sulking. You do realize your mood has cast a shadow over the whole house, right?”

Sarah stepped forward. “Jennifer, think about it. Things were so much better when we all lived together. Sure, we had our little squabbles, but after you left, everyone felt the weight of your
absence.”
Jennifer shook her head vehemently. “But I don’t want to live with you all anymore!”
Her conviction was clear; she had no intention of returning to the Hargreaves Villa.
Amanda interjected, “Ms. Hargreaves is the true heiress of the Hargreaves family. She’s put up with so much over the years just to keep the peace in this house. Why should she continue to be the one who sacrifices?”
Jennifer was the rightful heiress, and Sarah’s arrival had shifted the balance in ways they all felt.
Asher, feeling a pang of guilt, said, “Jennifer, I’m sorry I’ve beent so wrapped up in work that I didn’t notice what was happening at home. I promise it won’t happen again.”
Before Jennifer could respond, Amanda jumped in, saying, “So if Ms. Hargreaves is coming back, shouldn’t we at least prepare her room? Otherwise, how can she swallow this?”
Sarah’s expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly masked it with a smile. “Amanda has a point. I really should give up the room; it was Jennifer’s to begin with.”

Sarah tugged gently at Daniel’s sleeve, her voice barely above a whisper. “Daniel, it’s okay. Just being part of the Hargreaves family is a blessing for me. I shouldn’t be greedy.”
Amanda couldn’t resist adding, “At least you know your place.”
Sarah looked down, her eyes cold but her demeanor still composed.
Asher watched Sarah’s understanding nature and sighed, wishing Jennifer could show the same maturity. “Jennifer, are you satisfied with how things are being handled now?”
Jennifer replied, “Let’s not complicate things. After all, Sarah’s mother saved my life. She’s still healing, so it’s best if she stays there. I’ll just use the guest room for tonight.”
After all, she only stayed for one night.
Amanda was visibly anxious. “Ms. Hargreaves, how can you be so generous?”
Jennifer shrugged dismissively. “Honestly, I don’t mind. Just whip up my favorite snacks, okay?”
“Sure thing, I’ll get right on it,” Amanda said.

“Go for it,” Asher encouraged, watching her leave with a mix of admiration and concern.
He mused, “If only Jennifer could be as agreeable as Sarah.”
Asher rubbed his temples, saying, “Daniel, you need to be a bit kinder to Jennifer. She’s your sister, not your employee.”
Daniel frowned. “I get that, but look at what Jennifer’s done! I’m genuinely upset! We’re trying to help her, and she turns around and leaves! Honestly, Asher, you shouldn’t have brought her back.”
Asher glared at Daniel. “Daniel, that’s enough! Jennifer might be acting out, being difficult, but she’s still part of the Hargreaves family. I can’t just stand by and watch her get manipulated by the Clark family!”
Daniel fell silent.
Asher clutched his head, a familiar ache setting in. His old migraine was acting up again.
By the time dinner came around, Jennifer made her way downstairs, leaning on her cane.
She took a seat farthest from everyone else at the table, deliberately putting distance between herself and the rest of the family.

Jennifer didn’t even spare it a glance, and as soon as the meal was over, she left the dining room without a word.
Daniel’s voice broke the silence. “Asher, did you see Jennifer’s attitude?”
Asher rubbed his temples wearily. “Amanda, I’ve got a splitting headache. Please have the kitchen prepare some traditional medicine.”
Amanda said, “Mr. Asher Hargreaves, the traditional medicine you used to drink was personally brewed by Ms. Hargreaves.”
Daniel scoffed, dismissive. “Just follow the recipe. It can’t be that hard, right?”
Amanda shook her head. “No one in the kitchen can get it right except Ms. Hargreaves herself.”
