Chapter 374 Sarah Played the Victim

Jennifer wasn’t particularly surprised when Sarah showed up.
Once again, Sarah was wearing a white dress, looking fragile and pitiful.
However, she had wrapped a scarf around her neck to hide the injury.
As soon as Sarah entered, all eyes in the room turned toward her.
When people saw the severity of her injuries, they couldn’t help but express their shock and sympathy.
Jennifer noticed Sarah’s appearance and couldn’t help but smirk. She had a feeling she knew exactly what Sarah was trying to do.
But what had the Hargreaves family done to her?
Lucy leaned in to Jennifer and whispered, “What’s she doing here now?”
Jennifer’s response was sharp. “Do you really need to ask? She’s obviously here to cause trouble.”

Jennifer fixed her eyes on Sarah, curious to see what she would do next.
After the incident at the police station, she was certain that Asher and Dylan weren’t too happy with Sarah.
She was particularly interested in the fallout between Sarah and them.
Sure enough, Sarah walked straight up to Jennifer, her eyes filled with tears as she pleaded, “Jennifer, please… can you give me a break? My body is ruined, and my life is ruined… What more do you want from me?”
Her words instantly drew sympathetic looks from the crowd.
People always gravitated toward the weaker party, especially when someone appeared to be suffering as visibly as Sarah.
Jennifer heard Sarah’s plea and found it deeply ironic. “What do you mean by giving you a break?”
“Jennifer, please, I’m begging you,” Sarah continued, her voice cracking.
“Fine,” Jennifer answered easily, without hesitation.
Sarah was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Jennifer to remain calm, let alone agree so quickly.
A puzzled frown crossed Sarah’s face as she added, “Jennifer, I never intended to compete with you. Look at what I’ve become…

“Alright.”
Jennifer agreed, her tone surprisingly calm.
Jennifer’s easygoing response seemed to have caught Sarah off guard.
Sarah had imagined a variety of ways this conversation would go, but never this one.
The awkward tension was palpable.
Jennifer continued, “Didn’t you already report this to the police? You were planning to sue us for what happened to you. So, why are you here now?”
She pressed further, “You’re the one who’s pressing charges. If I really did something wrong, shouldn’t I be the one begging you? Why are you the one pleading with me?”
Sarah’s composure faltered. “Because I know I have no power. I can’t afford a good lawyer. Even if I report it, I’ll lose. I’ll never win.”
Jennifer raised an eyebrow. “You’re lying. You’re just trying to use the police report to threaten us. But now that your threats. haven’t worked, you’re trying to soften your image.”
Jennifer had Sarah all figured out.

It seemed Asher and Dylan had done something to make her feel cornered, and now Sarah was coming to her.
After all, Sarah had always been the type to post only partial photos of her injuries on the school forum, carefully hiding the scars. Given how obsessed she was with her appearance, there was no way she would expose herself like this unless she was forced into a corner.
“Jennifer, I’m not here to play the victim. I came to apologize, to make amends.”
“Oh, really? Well, since you’ve apologized of your own accord, I guess you realize how wrong you were. In that case, I’ll be the bigger person and let it slide.”
Jennifer’s gaze didn’t leave Sarah.
Sarah’s teeth ground together, for she was clearly dissatisfied with Jennifer’s response. This wasn’t what she had planned.
Jennifer smirked inwardly. She knew exactly what Sarah was up
- to.
If she let herself get into a fight with Sarah, or worse, if the two of them started arguing or physically fighting, the paparazzi would be all over it.
There was no way she was going to fall for that trick.
As Sarah clenched her jaw, trying to figure out her next move, one of Jennifer’s classmates spoke up, “What more do you want?

Jennifer’s already agreed to accept your apology. Are you trying to guilt–trip her now?”
