He used to be so gentle.
Holly and Shane’s meeting was purely
accidental.
He was the heir to the Shen Corporation,
while I was a fresh graduate entering the
workforce.

Shen Corporation was the dream of almost
every graduate in A City.
High salary, good benefits, a job there was
something to brag about at any class reunion.
I was one of the lucky ones who got an
internship through campus recruitment.
Unfortunately, the workplace was far more
complicated than I imagined.
I remember in my first month, the company
organized a department gathering.
The department manager, Zhang Chuang, was
a senior of mine; we had met a few times in
college.
At the gathering, he insisted on making me and another girl who joined the company at
the same time drink, claiming this gathering
was for us.
He even patted my shoulder, leaning in to say:

But the girl beside me was already pale

I sensed something was wrong and quietly
asked. The girl pitifully told me she was
allergic to alcohol.
The department manager even raised his
glass, saying newcomers had to drink.
The girl looked troubled. She timidly
explained, “Sorry, Manager Zhang, I’m allergic
to alcohol, I can’t drink.”
The department manager laughed, “I’m
allergic to alcohol too, but a little is fine.”
“Xiao Xu, you have to learn to drink after you
join the workforce, understand?”
Others joined in, the scene chaotic.
I didn’t know where the courage came from, I
stood up to cover for her, “Manager Zhang,
she really can’t drink. If not, I’ll drink for her,
