Chapter 15
Well, that was information ovrikood, I thought to myself. My head was just about to explode with this information. Ugh, I needed a shower. Opening a randoms door, I first found a closet but managed to find the bathroom on my second attempt. It was a huge bathroom with a basic shower, floor–to–ceiling black marble tile and a clear class door. The black tile ran the length of the bathroom and was paired with a white vanity with two sinks. Still, the bathroom was stocked with all the needed supplies a girl could want. I nummaged through the drawers until 1 found the shampoo and conditioner. Towels were stacked above the toilet in a cabinet and there were even samples of lavender Fragrance els to put in the shower to relax you. Hanging a strand of lavender from the shower head, I turned the shower on and turned the steamer on high. Dace I was misfied with choosing a temperature others would consider scalding. I undressed and slipped into the water. Standing under the water, I let my mind deft to all this information.
Did my mom know what she was buying me? The luna said she didn’t, but I couldn’t help but wonder how my mom would have felt about it. I am sure she would have had some colorful words. Laughing to myself, I decided I should probably get out. Doe thing I did know was that only time would tell what exactly my destiny was and what this necklace would do.
Unfortunately, I remembered I didn’t have my bag with me. I left it in the car. Well, hopefully they wouldn’t be upset if I borrowed something from the closet until I got my bag. Walking out of the bathroom, I suddenly stopped in my tracks and had to swallow what I am sure would have been quite the girly scream. Zach was lazily sitting on my bed watching TV.
“If only you could have seen your face,” Zach said, rolling over laughing.
“You could have knocked! What if I came out naked?” I said, giving him a stern look.
“Oh please. I came to give you your bag. I will be next door.” Zach said, standing and went to leave the room.
“Wait, I have so much to tell you, let me get dressed.” I went to the closet and changed. When I came out, I told him everything Luna Laura told me. As I told him my story, his eyes landed on my necklace that was securely around my neck and the ring on my finger. I finished telling him everything, and all I was rewarded with was quiet. I could hear the crickets and the water drip in the bathroom.
“Interesting…” Is all he said. Zach rubbed his chin with his pointer finger and thumb. He was deep in thought. “I am not sure what this all means yet, but we will figure it out. The ring’s ability hasn’t been negative yet, so we will just have to wait and see what the necklace will do for you.” Zach finally said.
“You’re probably right. Either way, it seems like she wanted to help but I am not sure what she wanted to help me with. It must have been an important vision for her to make not one, but two artifacts that I needed to help me. I am a little worried about this.” And I was.
“I don’t think you fully understand what killing The Three Bandits meant, Nina. Countless alphas have used them, and we could never trace them to anyone. They did the dirty work for parks. Only a select few packs were trying to track and kill them. I haven’t decided if this pack is on our side or not. I am assuming so, now that the luna shared all that information, but that doesn’t mean they are our friends. This is a big deal. I don’t know all there is about them, but the few meetings and things I have overheard from the alpha, we have been after them for over ten years. I have gone on scouting missions for information about their whereabouts. All I know is that they had friends, and they won’t be happy about this. It cannot get out what
happened here. We will need to make sure this alpha and luna don’t tell anyone. I am not sure if we just happened to stumble upon them, making us the unluckiest people ever, or if they were sent to find us. Either for that jewelry or something far more disturbing.”
I was speechless. I didn’t even know what to say. All I knew was that I refused to be scared. I was raised to be strong and attack everything head on. I straightened my back and looked Zach straight in the eye. “Bring it on
“Good girl, now go to bed. I have a feeling our vacation got more interesting. Closing the door behind him, I pulled the sheet back and slid into bed. Sinking tight in, I closed my eyes.
“Sleep, Nina, I will stay awake and stand guard for us,” Raven said. She twirled a few times in my mind, then rested her head on her paws with her ears straight up. Feeling safe, I let myself slip off to sleep.
