The phone had been hung up at some point.
Outside, the rain began to fall lightly, but inside, the atmosphere between us was heated. He seemed as if he was famished like he had been deprived for far too long.
He kept me up all night, only showing a hint of mercy and letting me rest after hours of tiring
me out.
I was so exhausted that I could hardly open my eyes. I slept straight through to the
afternoon.
When I woke up, I saw that he had brought a desk over and was working right beside me. Seeing that I had woken up, he eagerly offered me some small snacks.
I didn’t hesitate and took them from him, eating them right away.
“By the way, I actually have friends here, right?”
My casual question seemed to unsettle him. His expression grew complicated. After a long pause, he finally said, “I guess so.”
I didn’t press any further. I noticed he visibly sighed in relief.
Over the past few days, I had no doubt that he genuinely liked me.
But there was something about him that made me feel like he was hiding something.
I had originally planned to reach out to a friend to get some answers about my past.
Suddenly, a man appeared in front of me.
He looked quite handsome, but for some reason, I felt a wave of unease wash over me when I
saw him.
It was a physical disgust, mixed with a strange bitterness I couldn’t quite explain.
I didn’t understand why I felt this way, but my body instinctively took a step back.
I turned to leave, but the man grabbed my hand tightly.
“Where have you been these past few days? I was drunk that night. I didn’t mean to say those
words to you. How long are you going to stay angry?”
I stared at him, forcing myself to suppress the repulsion inside me.
“Do I know you?”
He smirked, as if amused.
“Avery, stop putting on an act! I personally apologize to you. What more do you want?”
I frowned, not sure what was going on.
“Let go! I don’t know you. If you don’t let go, I’m calling the police.”
I struggled to free myself, but couldn’t break free.
Just when I was about to scream for help, someone forcefully pulled our hands apart.
I looked up to see it was Dylan. I immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank God you’re here! This guy is weird. As soon as he saw me, he came after me and started spouting a bunch of nonsense.”
Dylan held my hand and quietly listened to my complaints, occasionally offering soft words

Dylan held my hand and quietly listened to my complaints, occasionally offering soft words
of comfort.
“Alright, don’t worry. Let’s go. Don’t bother with these freaks.”
Julian stood frozen for a while, then snapped back to reality.
“Dylan, where the hell are you taking my girlfriend?”
With that, he punched Dylan without hesitation, but Dylan just smiled faintly.
“Your? Girlfriend?”
Dylan turned to look at me, his gaze softening.
“Babe, do you know him?”
A large bruise appeared on his face.
I gently touched his wound and then glared at that bast**d.
“I don’t know you, and I’m not your girlfriend. If you keep following us, I’ll call the police.”
Julian didn’t say anything. His gaze lingered between the two of us, and for some reason, a
smile slowly crept onto his face.
“Dylan, didn’t expect you to be so clever.”
He swung a punch at Dylan, and this time, Dylan didn’t back down.
The two of them immediately started fighting in the mall.
Bystanders saw the commotion and immediately called the police.
In the end, we were taken to the police station. They were both influential figures, so they decided to settle the matter peacefully.
After leaving the police station, Dylan was leaning on me for support. His face was bruised.
“Avery, come back with me. You’ll remember that I’m your boyfriend. We were planning to get married, don’t you remember?”
When Julian said this, Dylan’s grip on my hand tightened.
“Is that so?”
I turned to look at Julian, a faint smile tugging at the corner of my mouth.
Julian nodded eagerly.
I noticed Dylan was a bit down.
“Do I like tomatoes?” I asked Julian.
The sudden question caught him off guard. He blurted out, “Yes.”
Hearing this, I felt a little relieved.
“I hate tomatoes. You don’t even know my preferences. Are you really my boyfriend? Are you the one I’m supposed to marry? Stop joking around.”
Instantly, his face turned pale.
“And by the way, I know who my boyfriend is. It’s none of your business.”
I tightened my grip on Dylan’s hand and slowly walked away.
A small smile tugged at the corners of Dylan’s mouth. It was clear that his joy couldn’t be
hidden.

hidden.
After we got home, he would casually mention how his hand hurt and ask me to massage it,
or claim his face hurt and needed a kiss to make it better.
He kept coming up with ways to draw me in, all so my hands would linger on him just a little
longer.
I knew he was just playing the patient.
We spent a couple of days at home; our playful teasing and quiet flirtation almost felt like a game, where every touch, every glance, seemed to mean just a little more than it should.
One night after that, Dylan and I were about to go out for dinner.
To my surprise, as soon as we stepped outside, I saw Julian standing in the distance.
He was a pest that wouldn’t go away.
I pretended I didn’t see him and grabbed Dylan, trying to head out through another exit.
Julian quickly rushed over and stopped us.
“Avery, I’ve figured everything out.”
He stood in front of us, looking completely confident.
“You had a car accident when you were moving.”
He suddenly fell silent at that point, and after a long pause, he added, “Avery, please come back. I’ve talked to the doctor. Once the blood clot in your brain disappears, you’ll remember
everything.”
“Is that all?” He nodded.
“If what you’re saying is true, then why did it take you so long to come find me after my car accident? If you’re going to lie, at least make it sound believable.
Besides, if I moved out in the middle of the night, then you must have done something
wrong.
Enough. Don’t ever show up in front of us again.”
I said all that with a cold expression.
Julian froze for a moment, then said, “Avery, I can explain. That day, we…”
“Enough! Don’t say anything more. I don’t want to hear it. Stop interfering with my life.”
I turned to walk away, but he tried to follow. Dylan stepped in front of him.
“My girlfriend told you to leave. Don’t you understand?”
“Mr. Harris, you really know how to steal someone’s girlfriend, huh? You really have no shame! When Avery gets her memory back, do you really think she’ll still be with you?”
“It’s none of your business. If you don’t appreciate her, I will.
Mr. Flores, enough already.”
They kept talking for a while, but I couldn’t make out everything they were saying.
“What did you say to him? Why did it take so long?”
“It’s nothing. I just warned him not to bother my wife anymore. Otherwise, I’ll beat him up every time I see him.”
His words caught me off guard.

“Who’s your wife? You’re so cheeky!”
He pulled me into his arms. “Of course, my wife is you.”
The warm breath against my ear made me involuntarily shiver.
He, however, smiled even more happily.
