“My wedding with Olivia? What the hell?”
Mike finally noticed the wedding slideshow
was flashing pictures of him and Olivia.
His mom sighed, trying to explain, “Stacy said
she knew you had a thing for Olivia, so she
organized this as a special surprise for you,
honey.”
Mike’s eyes were bloodshot, he was barely
holding it together, “How could you not tell
me about this?”
His mom was genuinely confused. She rolled
her eyes. “You already got the marriage
certificate with her, right? And she’s dressed
up like a bride, so what difference does it
make if we tell you or not?”
Mike realized it was true, that everything
Stacy said about not marrying him had been
real.
He ripped the boutonniere off his chest, ready to go find Stacy, but Olivia, dressed in a
super–expensive wedding dress, blocked him
at the door.
“Mike where are you going?”
Seeing Olivia like this made Mike angry.
“Stacy’s the bride, not you. Who said you
could dress up like this?”
Olivia stared at him, like she couldn’t believe
what she was hearing. Tears welled up in her
eyes. “Didn’t you tell me to dress up as the
bridesmaid and that it would be like having
our own little wedding?”
Mike was speechless. He pushed past her,
trying to find me.
But his mom grabbed him. “The wedding’s
about to start. Where are you running off to?”
Mike’s jaw was tight. He said, “I gotta find Stacy. She’s my bride. I gotta bring her back.”
Olivia stomped her foot, defeated. She
<
started sobbing, wrapping her arms around
Mike’s waist. “She left, get over it. Let me be
your bride, Mike. I’m carrying your baby. Are
you gonna let him be born a bastard?”
“You’ve been saying Stacy’s parents did a lot
for you and that she’s useful to you, so you
can’t marry me. But she’s gone now, why are
you still not marrying me?”
“What? You’re pregnant?” His mom was
stunned, reaching out to grab Olivia, her eyes
glued to her stomach.
Olivia nodded, “I’m pregnant with Mike’s kid,
almost four months now.”
His mom exploded. She slapped Mike across.
the face. “You animal! Four months? How
could you do this to Stacy? No wonder she
wanted to leave you!”
Mike’s eyes were red, his hand was shaking.
He couldn’t believe it. Did Stacy already know
about Olivia’s baby? How could that be? He’d
been so careful to keep it a secret.
“Mom, it’s not like that. There’s nothing
between Olivia and me. As for the baby, I
drank too much at a party four months ago,
so l…”
Hearing Mike say that, Olivia went ballistic,
pounding him on the chest with her fists.
“What do you mean? You’re saying you don’t
love me? But last night you promised you’d
give me your entire paycheck and make time
for me and the baby every week. How can
you say you don’t love me?”
<
Mike shoved Olivia away, trying to explain. “I
was just trying to make it up to you. You
know I just see you as a kid, Olivia. How
could I love you?”
Mike turned to leave. As he headed down the
stairs, Olivia chased after him, throwing
herself at him.
“I’m gonna marry you today, even if it kills
you!”
They both tumbled down the stairs together,
Olivia clutching her stomach. A warm liquid
trickled down her leg. “My belly, my child…”
As Mike fell down the stairs, his head
slammed hard against a vase. Blood covered
his face, and he blacked out.

What was supposed to be a beautiful
wedding turned into a total disaster.
