“Ma‘ am please…please hear me out, if I fail to bring you back, my job will be at stake. From now on Sir Alex is not our boss anymore and he is thrown out of the board of directors, even his shares are taken away by his grandfather.”
I froze, the phone still pressed to my ear.
“What do you mean thrown out?”
“Since Mr. Alex has decided to marry your sister, all his assets are seized. We will offer you a position that suits you the most in Paris ma‘ am so please don’t refuse.”
The call hung up and I stared at the phone in shock.
Walking inside the gigantic office in the Paris central, my heart thrummed erratically as I approached the glass door. Part of me expected – dreaded – to see Alex standing there.

male’s eyes fell on my bulging stomach that I tried hard to hide by wearing loose clothing,
“Elena if you are once a Giovanni, then you will always be a Giovanni. If you want to hide it you must try harder than this.” Damien’s face shifted from professional detachment to concern as he took in my appearance, pointing out to my pregnant belly.
Taking off the coat from his broad shoulders he draped it over my frame.
The room felt smaller with his
domineering presence.
“Does Alex knows?”
“No!” I clutched his arm tightly in fright.
“Please don’t tell him. He and Jessica can go to any lengths to make me miserable. My children are my last hope, if I lost them I might as well die!”

oath of secrecy.
“I am leaving.”
“Alex!” Jessica screamed only for her voice to fall on deaf ears as the door clacked with a bang.
That night felt like an eternity to both Alex and Jessica as Alex refused to stay with my adopted sister at the hospital and left her alone for the night.
Morning arrived and Jessica sat on the bed, her eyes bloodshot red from crying all night. yet Alex refused to console her at all as he leaned against the wall with his eyes.

The door opened, and the doctor walked in, holding a sealed envelope.
“Mr Alex, Miss Jessica here is the
report.” sensing the brewing tension the medical document was quietly placed in Jessica’s hand before the two were left
alone.

envelope glaring at her before ripping

Jessica’s voice trembled. “Alex… please don‘ t do this. We can move forward now that Elena is gone. We have a future, please…I am a victim as well-”
“A victim? Roaming around in luxurious cars and having a fucking magnificent room to yourself as Elena slept in the storage in freezing winters, is that what you call being a victim?!” Jessica‘ s hands trembled as she froze.

Jessica reached for his hand only for Alex to pull away roughly. “Tomorrow at the wedding banquet I will act like a perfect couple but don’t mistake it for my love!”
Suddenly the door slammed open with Alex‘ s grandfather storming in, his cane thudding on the floor as you looked at his grandson in rage.
“Grandfather?” Alex said, trying to force a smile to hide the reason for the fight with Jessica.
Without a word, the old man raised his hand and slapped Alex across the face. The sharp sound echoed in the room.

speak something yet the next words were swallowed in fear when Alex’s grandfather stared at her with contempt, his eyes
