I met Mark at a meeting for the TV adaptation
of “Undercurrent.”
My novel was going to be adapted into a TV
series, and the theme was choosing a
production company.
Mark’s company was in the running.
I tried to ignore him, but Mark stopped me.
“Jen, what are you doing here?”
Then he looked surprised. “I know, you must
be a fan of ‘Peaceful.‘ You snuck in!”
Mark continued, “Peaceful is good, but give
- up. You’ll never be as good.”

Mark continued, “Peaceful is good, but give
- up. You’ll never be as good.”
His tone softened. “Jen, I’m sorry about
before, but I was just being honest.”
He looked down at me. “Come back to me
and I won’t mention it.”
“You don’t have a job, you’re not attractive,
and you’re average.

I laughed. I shook him off. “We’re over.”
“How I live is my choice.“(
A staff member waved to me, and I walked
away, ignoring Mark.
