The little girl in the orphanage
Chapter 1
The day before I was supposed to leave the
orphanage, Brittany, the queen bee who made
my life hell, stole my ID. She was gonna
pretend to be the long–lost heiress of some
rich family, taking my place.
I was up in the dusty attic, looking down at
her and just smiling. “Have a great trip,
kidney–mobile,” I said.

I’d been given a second chance. I was back,
reliving the day before those rich folks were
supposed to come get me.
く
Brittany, who’d been bullying me for what felt
like forever, cornered me in the bathroom at
the orphanage. She wanted the ID that proved
I was the heiress.
“Look, Grace, you’re a mess. You don’t
deserve a fancy family. Just give it to me.”
Brittany’s pretty face was twisted with pure
meanness. She wasn’t asking, she was taking.
Last time, I’d fought tooth and nail, even
though she beat me black and blue.
Eventually, the headmistress got involved, but
Brittany just got a slap on the wrist.
This time? I just watched her snatch the ID. I
even put on a pathetic act, all shaky and
scared. “If I give it to you, you won’t hurt me
anymore, right?”
<
Brittany, stunned she got what she wanted,
looked at me weird. “Of course! With this, I’m
a freaking princess! From now on, you’re not
even worthy to look at me!”
Then, she brushed off her clothes like she
was too good for the place and strutted out.
I slowly got up. A smile crept across my face.
Soon, laughter was echoing off the bathroom
walls.
Thank you, God, for hearing me. Let me have
another go. I’ll make everyone who ever hurt
me pay.
Last time, I was bullied in that orphanage until
I was fifteen. When those rich folks finally
brought me home, I thought things would
change. I’d be happy and accepted. I couldn’t
く
I had to deal with a bratty little sister, a
creepy older brother, and selfish parents.
Turns out, they only wanted me home.
because my brother, Ryan, needed a fresh
kidney.
They didn’t care about me at all. My sister
tormented me until I was eighteen. Then, they
strapped me to a table and took my kidney
while I was still awake! I died from an
infection a few months later.
In those last three months, all I could do was
pray for a second chance.
Looks like someone was listening!
The game was just starting. I had time to
change things.
