The first semester of freshman year ended,
and news spread that Brittany had died.
<
She supposedly jumped off a building after
battling depression.
At the funeral, Ryan, who had been bedridden
for years, was helping carry his sister’s coffin.
The media praised their sibling bond.
But he was probably just thanking Brittany for
the kidney.
The headmistress was crying the most,
because Brittany was her daughter.
She wanted to make her daughter rich, and
she never expected that Brittany would be
used as an organ donor.
The next day, Ethan asked me to hang out.
I wore the dress that I had bought with my
<
scholarship. The red color made me look even
more beautiful.
Ethan couldn’t say anything when he saw me.
He just asked why I was wearing such a nice
dress.
I smiled and answered the last question of my
homework before I said:
“Because it’s my birthday.”
Ethan’s eyes widened, and he went to the
bakery across the street.
Fifteen minutes later, an eight inch cake was
placed in front of me, and Ethan lit the
candles for me.
I closed my eyes to make a wish, while across
<
the street, the headmistress was covering the
street with funeral paper.
A piece of paper blew in front of my feet and
I stepped on it.
Brittany, thank you. Your life was the best
birthday gift I’ve ever gotten.
Two months after Brittany died, Ryan’s body
was rejecting the kidney, and he passed
away.
Brittany wasn’t related to Ryan, so the kidney
couldn’t match his body.
The Smiths were able to find out that Brittany
wasn’t their daughter. After they found out,
they made sure that the headmistress
disappeared.
<
The Smiths only had one child left, so they
tried to find their missing daughter again.
This time, they found me. I acted with them in
front of the media and successfully made
their stock prices go back up.
