The price of betrayal Ch 8

The price of betrayal Ch 8

08

Julie sat in the spectator’s section, her face tense

The reason for my divorce was irreconcilable differences

Fabian went into detail about his feelings for me, while Julie listened, her face paling with

each word

I calmly presented my medical records to the judge and let Fabian sit there, lost in his own

thoughts

I won the case, but there was no joy on Julie’s face

My parents and Quinn clapped, celebrating my victory

They surrounded me as we left the courtroom

Quinn’s smile was the brightest, his mouth almost stretching to his ears

Mom and Dad told us to wait while they went to the parking lot to get the car

The autumn wind swept up fallen leaves, signaling that the season had changed

Quinn stepped closer, lowering his voice. Palma, what do you think of me?”

A faint blush spread across his cheeks after he spoke

I purposely looked down, stepping on the leaves at my feet, creating a soft rustling sound, before muttering, You’re a good person.”

What?Quinn sounded a bit disgruntled

I looked up and gave him a faint smile

Suddenly, his eyes widened, and without warning, he shoved me aside. I stumbled to the

right

The screech of tires filled the air, and Quinn was thrown to the ground, rolling a few times before coming to a stop, lying on his back

Blood immediately poured from his mouth and nose

I froze, unable to move, as I watched in shock

Palma! Quinn!”

My parentscries broke through my daze, and I snapped back to reality, scrambling toward

Quinn

08:35 Mon, 10 Feb MBB

His face was covered in blood, his oncepristine suit torn

Quinn!”

I gathered all my strength to hold him in my arms, tears pouring out uncontrollably

I couldn’t stop crying as I clutched him, trembling

Quinn’s eyes slowly opened, and with a shaking hand, he weakly touched my cheek. His lips

barely parted

II’m okay.”

But after those words, his eyes closed again, and he passed out in my arms

I cried so hard I could barely breathe

My parents quickly dialed emergency services

Suddenly, I heard a noise behind me. I turned around to see Julie stumbling out of the car

She looked at me, full of hatred. When she saw Quinn in my arms, she screamed madly

I hit the wrong person? How could it be? He deserves to die! They all deserve to die!”

Julie screamed, rushing toward me, only to be held back by my parents

She collapsed on the ground, still shouting at me

Fabian arrived soon after. He saw the scene but didn’t approach. He just stood there, frozen

The ambulance arrived, and I got in with Quinn

Fabian tried to follow but stopped when I shot him a harsh glare

He stepped back

Quinn was taken into the ICU, unconscious. I sat in the waiting room, staring at his gaunt

face. A heavy weight pressed on my chest

Fabian stood silently in the hallway, saying nothing until I finally sat down on a bench

Palma, I’m sorry,he said

It was Julie’s fault. She was too impulsive,he added

I looked at him, my heart a mix of emotions. How I wished it was Fabian lying in that bed

instead of Quinn

Go away,I said quietly, my voice cold and distant

Fabian didn’t move. He walked up to me and grabbed my arm

Palma, are you really going to divorce me for him? Our five years are not enough to compare with just a few days with him?”

His words made me laugh bitterly

In the five years we were together, I never once felt his love

He’d often openly declared in public that Julie was his true love, while I was always hidden in

the shadows

Now, he dared to mention our relationship. It was laughable

Fabian, we’re already divorced. Even without Quinn, I would’ve left you,I said coldly

Fabian’s face went blank for a moment. He tightened his grip on my wrist, pulling me down

the stairs like a madman

Palma, why? Haven’t I treated you well?he shouted

08:35 Pon, 10 Feb M BB

If it’s because of Julie, I can get rid of her.”

He gripped my shoulders tightly, his eyes bloodshot, but I didn’t answer. His gaze fixed on me as if suddenly realizing something

Children. We’ll have children. Palma, please don’t leave me. Please.”
