Chloe rushed to comfort him.
“Brother, Lily couldn’t have died. Mindy told
Grandma, and Grandma’s helping her fake it.”
Chloe looked wronged. “Grandma never liked
- me. She’ll never approve of us…”
Charles‘ eyes widened. “The academy! Chloe,
you’re the owner! Let’s go check.”
“I need to see Lily.”
Chloe hesitated, but nodded, texting her
assistant discreetly.
They arrived at the academy. Before the
guards could open the gate, Charles kicked it
open, storming in.
“Where’s Lily?!”
He searched everywhere, finding nothing. His
face was grim. He grabbed a staff member by
the collar, demanding answers. The terrified

“Brother, calm down,” Chloe pleaded. “There
are other children here.”
Charles was agitated. “Get out of my way.”
Chloe was stunned. He’d never been so
harsh. Just then, a cleaner rushed out,
kneeling before Charles.
“Please, help these children!”
“I saw it, they tortured Lily to death!”
She pointed at the staff. Everyone flinched,
trying to hide.
Charles was frozen. “You’re serious?”
The cleaner nodded firmly. “I have video
footage. I recorded everything!”
She wept. “My own child was killed here.
They’re untouchable. I couldn’t report them.”
“Please, avenge these dead children!”
Charles felt a crushing blow. He turned, his
eyes burning as he looked at Chloe. “Tell me
what happened.”

There had been a death at the academy
before. Chloe had minimized it, calling it an
accident, urging him to cover it up. He’d
never suspected foul play, only saw Chloe’s
tears. He’d helped her cover it up, becoming
part of a conspiracy. Now, his own daughter
was dead. Was this karma?
Charles lost control, cornering Chloe,
grabbing her neck.
“Tell me, why did those children die? Why did
Lily die?!”
Chloe’s eyes darted away. Charles knew her
well enough to see the deception.
He laughed bitterly, tears streaming down his
face. He’d always seen Chloe as someone to
protect, yet she was capable of such cruelty.
He remembered Grandma Evelyn’s words
from last night.
“Chloe’s been faking her panic attacks. This
report from the hospital proves it.”
“Only you believe her. She manipulates you.
You give her everything.”
“Charles, wake up! Lily is dead, and you’re
ready to throw everything away for this
woman?”
