Living alone in the hotel, I felt a sense of fulfillment and peace I’d never experienced before.
I no longer had to check up on Dustin’s whereabouts or worry about the women around him. I
no longer waited like a desperate wife for his calls or messages.
It hit me just how much time I had wasted on him. Once I found myself again, every day
became a joy.
When all my work was finally finished, I turned off my laptop and massaged my temples.
Suddenly, my room’s phone rang. The receptionist informed me that a woman named Ms. Watson was waiting in the lobby to discuss something urgent with me.
I almost refused, but Renata grabbed the phone from the desk and begged through it.
In the end, I decided to meet her.
When I entered the lobby, I could barely recognize her.
In my memory, she was always impeccably dressed, wearing high heels that made her
seem taller than most, with flawless makeup and an air of superiority.
But the woman sitting there now had her hair down, her face pale, and her expression
uneasy, as though she had been through something terrifying.
The moment she saw me, she sprang to her feet, her eyes wild with desperation.
“Ms. Faulkner, please, I beg you, talk to Mr. Lawson for me. Please, let me off the hook.”
I learned from her that Dustin had blacklisted her in the industry. No company in the city
would hire her anymore.
She had lost her job, and because of ruining my wedding, she had racked up an enormous
penalty fee.
It was a wedding with a budget of over ten million dollars, and the penalty was so high that
she would never be able to pay it off in a lifetime.
She looked at me like I was her last hope, but my expression remained cold. I felt no
sympathy for her situation.
“I can’t help you. What Dustin did have nothing to do with me.”
Renata, seeing I was unmoved, suddenly cried out. She walked toward me, tears streaming
down her face.
“Ms. Faulkner, I beg you. I can’t afford this. Mr. Lawson will send me to prison.
I can’t go to jail. It will ruin my life.”
I felt my patience wearing thin, regretting coming down. If it weren’t for Renata causing a scene here and disturbing others, I wouldn’t have bothered to meet her.
- me.
I pulled my hand away from hers and stood up, preparing to leave.
When she saw that I wasn’t going to help, her expression twisted with rage, and she glared at

Dustin liked you all along, and yet he came after me. If it weren’t for you, none of this would
have happened!”
Renata raised her hand to slap me. I took a few steps back, startled.
But the anticipated pain never came. A man grabbed her wrist from behind.
It was Dustin.
He shoved Renata away, and she fell to the floor. But he wasn’t done. He stepped forward
and slapped her twice, hard.
“You b*tch! Who gave you the right to come after Lyanna?”
Renata begged for mercy as she lay on the floor, helpless. Dustin grabbed her by the collar and yanked her up.
She tried to dodge, but there was no way she could stand against a man.
I watched this chaotic scene. After several minutes, the security guard intervened. Renata was bruised and swollen, crying in a corner.
Dustin, looking pitiful, gazed at me, his eyes pleading. He tried to approach, but security stopped him.
I gave him a cold, detached glance as if he were a stranger. Without a word, I turned and walked back to my room.
