9:
When I recovered, Michael took me traveling.
He planned everything, taking care of every
detail, showering me with kindness.
Every night, he surprised me with romantic
gestures.
I was happier than I’d ever been.

And I fell in love.
One day, on a beach, he confessed his love,
and I said yes.
A year later, I reopened Whispers & Wishes.
My first customer that night was David.
He looked haggard, his face pale, his hair
unkempt, his eyes bloodshot.
My assistant told me he’d been coming
almost every night for six months.
He spoke, his voice hoarse with desperation.
“Please, help me find my wife. I’ll do
anything!”
“Impossible,” I said coldly.
“Your wife came to me. She pawned her
memory of you, her desire to ever see you again. I can’t grant your wish.”
David’s face contorted. “You’re lying! She loved me! She would do anything for me! I don’t believe you!”
I stared at him, unmoved. “Let it go. It’s better
this way.”
He seemed not to hear, mumbling to himself.
“She wouldn’t do this. You’re lying… You
have to help me find her!”
He lunged past the curtain.
He froze, staring at me.

Then, his voice trembled. “Sarah?”
“Is it really you? Am I dreaming? It’s really
you.”
“Get out! Don’t you know the rules?!” I
snapped.
He ignored me, his eyes filled with disbelief
and longing.
“Sarah, I’ve finally found you…”
He took a step towards me.
I backed away, until I was trapped against the
wall.
“Stay away from me! Don’t make me call

But he was like a man possessed. He grabbed
me, holding me tight.
I struggled, looking at him like a stranger.
My gaze seemed to pierce him.
“Sarah, you must hate me. I know I was
wrong. Please, forgive me.”
I raised an eyebrow, my voice dripping with.
sarcasm. “Forgive you? You think you
deserve forgiveness?”
“I seem to recall you giving up our child, our
memories, for a woman named Amelia. And
now you have the audacity to ask for
forgiveness?”
r
He deflated, his voice choked with emotion.
“It was my fault. I was wrong. But I always loved you, Sarah.”
He grabbed my wrist. “Don’t leave me. We
can fix this. I know I messed up.”
”
I pulled my hand away, my gaze cold. “I don’t feel anything for you. There’s nothing to leave.”
He broke down. “I don’t believe you! You can’t just forget me!”
Then, his eyes fixed on my wrist. “You say you don’t remember, then why are you still wearing the bracelet I gave you?”
