Amid the cheers of the crowd, Lucas raised
the iron rod again.
It was so fast that I could only instinctively
cover my belly and squeeze my eyes shut.
The pain never came. I looked up tentatively.
A bodyguard was standing in front of me,
holding the rod in a death grip.
“Mr. Lu, your wife is pregnant. You can’t do
this. Please stop.”
It was the first time someone had dared to
defy Lucas.
He narrowed his eyes, taking in the
bodyguard.
“Who are you?”

The bodyguard replied calmly, “If Mr. Lu
wants to know the truth, please speak in
another place-”
Lucas chuckled and yanked the rod away,
slamming it down on the bodyguard’s leg.
“I’ll find out who dares to covet what’s mine!”
The bodyguard was too slow. His leg
snapped, and he fell to the ground, unable to
get up.
The cowards in the crowd screamed.
My mother–in–law fainted and was
immediately carried away under heavy guard.
There was no one left to save me.
The color drained from my face.
Lucas’s eye’s were full of rage.
He really wanted to kill me in broad daylight.
“Autumn, I thought you had landed some big
shot. Did a pathetic bodyguard make you
betray me?”

I heard the engine of a car nearby. I realized
that Lucas had tied me to the hood of the
car.

My voice was shrill with fear.
Lucas smiled enioving my terror.

Sarah looked at the designer clothes I was
wearing, her eyes filled with envy.

and she still has the gall to wear such

I felt a chill as my clothes were ripped off my

The crowd gasped and hooted.

He raised a dagger to my bulging belly. No
one knew if the baby was alive or dead.
I had lost all hope.

Everyone’s eyes followed mine to the limited-

Capital Hill?”
Lucas’s face turned pale, and he froze.
Danny sat inside the car, the tinted windows
obscuring his expression.
Only his secretary looked anxious.
Lucas assumed that Danny was looking for
him, and he rushed over with a servile grin.
“Mr. Olsen, are you here for me? Sorry, I just
got back recently and haven’t had a chance
to visit you yet.”
“It’s all that witch’s fault. She wasted my time
and made me look like a fool today!”
Lucas had rushed back because he heard that
the Olsen Group was planning to partner with
the Lu family’s company!
It was an opportunity too good to pass up.
The secretary felt a sense of foreboding.
Normally, the bodyguard would come to the
Olsen residence to report what Mrs. Olsen
had eaten. But he hadn’t shown up all day.
When they sent someone to investigate the
Lu estate, they found the bodyguard
unconscious outside the gates!
