Chapter 2
Looking at my kids, all the ice around my
heart just melted. I knelt down and booped
each of them on the nose, like, “What are you
two doing here? Don’t you know there are
creeps out there?”
Ava, my daughter, those big hazel eyes of hers twinkling, told a whopper without blinking. “Mom, Ryan missed you so much, he dragged me here! I told him, ‘Crying like that isn’t manly you should be more strong‘ but he wouldn’t listen! Ugh…we women, we’re too soft, you know? Cut me some slack.”

Before he could say anything, Ava gave him
the stink eye, and he just clamped his mouth
shut. He pouted, though, wrapping his arms
around my neck. “Mommy, I want to hear
stories! You haven’t read to me for three
whole nights. Don’t you love Ryan anymore?”
They’re twins, a boy and a girl. Ava’s a little firecracker, always getting away with stuff, usually by messing with Ryan. But she always has his back in public.
Looking at those two goofballs, I laughed. “Mommy’s been on deadline, sweethearts. But how about this? When I’m done with this, we’ll hit up Universal Studios, deal?”

Their excitement was infectious. I kissed
them both on their chubby cheeks.

Everyone else was still gawking at us like they’d seen a ghost. I didn’t give a damn about those phonies. I looked at my kids,
“Where’s Dad? Wasn’t he supposed to be
here?”
“Daddy he…”
Before they could answer, Lily let out a shrill
laugh.
“Oh, please! I thought those were really the CEO’s kids? You’re so transparent, Bianca! Hiring actors? Seriously? And you couldn’t even tell those kids what to say before
coming out here.”
“I get that the CEO and their kids were never seen, but I’ve seen the CEO! There’s no way someone as high class could be with someone as low class like you!”
“And you say you’re married to the CEO and you’re the famous screenwriter? Girl please! You may as well say you’re married to the president!”

Her words set off a wave of snarky laughter.
“This woman is trying so hard to hook a man!
It’s disgusting!”
“So, it’s all a lie! No wonder she’s dressed so
cheaply!”
“The style of her outfit looks like something
I’ve seen before!”
“Now that you say that, it looks like something from the Milan private masters,
that you can only buy as a VIP?”
“Wait, so could she be…”

Lily cut them off, her voice sharp. “Security!
Where’s security? We’ve got some scammers
here! Get them out!”
“Nobody lays a hand on my wife and kids!”
A gorgeous man in a tailored suit stepped forward. It took him just a second to spot me in the crowd. He walked over and put his arm around me, like it was the most natural thing
in the world.
“Honey, what happened to coming together? I’ve been looking for you all morning. Is this what they call neglect?”

Who would think that such a man would be
acting like a spoiled kid?! He did it to
everyone.
The director came running out of the studio.
“Mr. Phoenix, Bianca, you finally made it.
If there was a hint of doubt before, the director just removed them.
Everyone look at me with different eyes now.
“Holy cow! I can’t believe Bianca is the wife of a director, and a screenwriter. And Ethan wanted her as a mistress? What was he

thinking?”
“I know right? And he thought she found an
old man? She’s Bianca! If she wants to be
single, she could be successful in her own
way!”
“Lily tried to insult Bianca with a hundred
dollar. I think Bianca’s assets are worth over a
billion dollars. How embarrassing.”
“There are sponsors who want Bianca now. Everyone knows he is a doting husband, so the sponsors are done for.”
The director realized that the conversation
wasn’t working, so he interrupted.

“Mr. Phoenix, we have the actors ready for
the audition. Some of them seem to work well
for the roles.”
Before he could continue, Richard came up to
Ethan.
“You must be the wife’s ex, I’m grateful that you broke up with her”
“If you didn’t leave her, she wouldn’t have been my wife, and I wouldn’t have these
beautiful kids.”
That Richard, always with his jabs.

I smiled while Richard confronted Ethan.
Richard and I used to be strangers.
Richard was taken away from my family
because of an accident, and I happened to
pull him out.
I hurt my arms and shoulder, and it took three
months to recover. Since then, he was always
at my house, every day.
He loves my work, and my kindness.
At a party for my first work, he began to give
me some advances.

After my story, Ethan was on the verge of
crying.

guy?”
“You said you would be with me! Why would

I now had someone I can rely on.

TV series.
Richard said, “I’m always looking out for you.”
