Emmett’s voice cracked, raw with desperation. His emotions surged so violently that, without warning, he vomited.
But Athena remained silent, her resolve firm as she hung up the phone. She had no intention of uttering another word to him. The past ten years? She might as well have handed them over to the dogs. She never wanted to be tangled in Emmett’s web again.
